Hotel is in an excellent location for the town centre, castle and pubs etc. Tesco down the road for supplies. Stayed here on the hottest nights of the year so far. Only the suites are air conditioned as far as I know (so might be worth an upgrade) and if you have a room at the front of the hotel you will have the sun on your windows all afternoon until it gets dark. Once dark there is a bright lantern out the front so sleeping with curtains open is not really an option if you’re sensitive to light. The floors are wonky as you would expect from such an old building. Plenty of history in this building if that’s your thing. Bathroom shower is good with rainfall head and detachable hose. Grouting in tiles could do with a deep clean but generally cleanliness was very good. Comfy bed and crisp linens. Shower gel on wall and hand soap and moisturiser near basin. Fluffy towels. Hairdryer of suitable quality. The staff are polite and helpful. Bar does good selection of drinks and Starbucks coffee. Nice courtyard for sitting outside. Secure parking accessed via a narrow and low entrance - warning ! Car park is charged at £7.50 a night. Breakfast was very good. Selection of cold stuff including cereals, yogurt, fruit etc and hot breakfast cooked to order. Press pump pot of coffee supplied. Had some tapas one night at the hotel, as we were relaxing, after a long day, watching Wimbledon, with some beers and it was very good. Would definitely stay here again, all the staff were very helpful and friendly.

On arrival, we were concerned about the room as we were told a queen bed suitable for 1 but can accommodate 2 ???? The room was adequate, we book for dinner and breakfast, what we believed to be à la carte. On arriving at the restaurant we were taken to our table and given a menu for Sunday dinner (which is there Sunday lunch menu) we quired this and was told there is no à la carte on Sunday? So we ordered our food, the starter was not bad at all, but the rest was appalling I think they had dished up the remains of the Sunday lunch and the gravy was so salty! So we had a chat to the waitress, and she brought out some more potatoes and gravy that were better but still very poor. We informed the manager and cancelled the breakfast as we had no confidants in the food. We then informed the manager about the cleanliness of the bathroom. On check out, the manager had to get the receptionist from outside? I looked at the bill and explained about the breakfast being on the bill after it had been cancelled and asked for the dinner to be removed, and explained about the en-suit again! She called housekeeping and I showed them the pictures, I then paid the bill. By the time I got to the car and loaded the receptionist, the housekeeper and others were outside (vaping smoking chatting) under the Manager's nose! I don't think they run a very tight ship!

We spent a pleasant couple of nights at this historic hotel in the main part of town. The hotel is very atmospheric, with creaky floors and numerous sets of small steps reflecting its 17th century origins. That said, it has been relatively recently and tastefully refurbished as part of the Crest hotel group. Our room was very comfortable, with good bed, tea and coffee, a fridge with water supplied, a decent TV, chairs and reasonable Wi-Fi. The modern bathroom had a good sized walk in shower. We had dinner the first night at the hotel, where they acknowledged my wife’s birthday. Food was good (though the Charlton Arms the following night was better) and breakfasts had a good range of freshly cooked options with a decent buffet. Lots of comfortable seating including a patio to have drinks and very friendly staff. The castle, historic church and lots of independent shops are close by. The downside for someone with mobility issues would be the number of steps on the first floor (and the lift was out of order while there too) but otherwise it is a good place to stay.

This review is long overdue! Staying at the Feathers, dining, drinking and seeing and learning about the history of the hotel and the surrounding area was a truly memorable experience! Grace, Kelly, Lou and Glyn are the best! I hope to see you all again in the future!

We stopped at The Feathers Hotel in Ludlow for afternoon tea with six people and our two beagles — and it was one of the highlights of our trip. The staff made us feel welcome, not just us but also our dogs. The atmosphere is full of historic charm, with beautiful surroundings that made the whole experience feel really special. Our afternoon tea was delicious — from the freshly made sandwiches to the scones and cakes, everything was very nice. The team went out of their way to accommodate us, and we never once felt rushed or overlooked. We would love to return next time we’re in the area. Highly recommend for anyone looking for a relaxed, memorable stop in beautiful Ludlow!

Although the this building is iconic and absolutely beautiful, the room we had was a real let down. The modern design was not in keeping with this historic building and we found it bland and commonplace. Avoid the rooms in the back of the hotel - unfortunately we stayed a modern, charmless block overlooking the car-park and bins, room 143, at the end of a very long corridor and accompanied by the sound of the kitchen extractor fans. Considering the amount charged per night, to say we were underwhelmed is a huge understatement. The room is at best adequate for the price and we were both bitterly disappointed - if we wanted to stay in a Premier Inn, we would have made the appropriate arrangements and it is a shame that Crest Hotels decided to refurbish the main interiors in this lacklustre style. The public rooms downstairs, including the restaurant, are similarly disappointing, although the first floor function rooms (the three windows you see in the middle layer at the front) are absolutely stunning with ornate Jacobean plastered ceilings and fireplaces and a palpable sense of history, but they are empty with stacked chairs and not furnished for sitting in. Take lots of photos of the outside but don't bother to stay here.

Staff welcoming, friendly and polite. Bar environment pleasant. Breakfast excellent. Room awful. Minute ( and the last hotel room I stayed in was in NYC I know what small is). Just about enough room to get around the bed. An ironing board wedged next to the bedside and a fan on the floor. The clothes rail hung over the bed. Bathroom sealant mouldy. Went back down to reception and polite young man informed me the hotel was full so there was nothing they could do. Nothing? So disappointing.

We had a great time, booked in on Sunday and booked out on Thursday morning. We only had one meal at he hotel as eating out has lots of choices. Only slight complaint would be the parking charge in the hotel car park, 7.50 a night is not really fair. Apart from that room was great bed was great and the staff are brilliant.
