I’ve visited the salway loads over the years and feel it’s got somewhat confusing and inconsistent. You never know what you’re going to get. The evening food used to be amazing but it’s unfortunately now, it’s up and dawn. . On our last visit we got forgotten twice which I don’t think is acceptable service when they weren’t that busy. Yet the time before that, you couldn’t fault the service. It’s a real shame to be honest because inside the hotel is lovely. I hope you make the relevant changes so that it can be the restaurant it once was.

We recently spent two nights at the Salwey Arms. There is a large car park so no problem there. We were greeted warmly by Sue who we later discovered was the owner. While waiting for our room to be ready , we ordered a sea bream dish which was excellent and fresh . The hotel room was spacious and clean. The bed was very comfortable and there was a great en suite with a rolled top bath although no separate shower. Towels were very fluffy. Superb choice of breakfast items. I had the excellent full English breakfast on day one and the pancakes on day two. Because of this we also had a chicken dish for dinner, once again very fresh and well cooked. Throughout are stay all the staff were most accommodating and helpful. The hotel is about 7 miles from Ludlow town but easy to get to. There is also a nearby park and ride if you so wish. Because the property is grade two listed, there is no double glazing in the room and there is a fair bit of traffic noise but it didn’t put us off. Overall a great all round hotel with great staff and would fully recommend it.

Road noise in twin room gave us a poor night's sleep.

All good, the only let down was no internet, and as a working stay , no work could be done, But that was the only down side. My evening meal and breakfast were excellent.

What a lovely meal and atmosphere for an early Sunday evening. In a rural location it's often difficult to find a quality restaurant open late on a Sunday. This was great, quality food well presented, enough gravy for the roast dinner, good menu options, and staff were attentive and got timing between courses just right. We all felt relaxed and not hurried.

The starter of soup was so hot it burnt my mouth that was after we had to ask for a spoon Yorkshire puddings not very hot and not crispy at all , the vegetables we had to wait for. Service was so slow the 2 meat meals were just so average Vegetarian loaf was just a blob of goo in the middle of plate with the parsnips plonked on top Apple crumble dessert, never seen such a small portion, there was no dessert cutlery so again we had to ask and wait No one checked on the meal until the end Not worth the money

We were in the smallest room, Tern; the only one available out of the 5 rooms at the property when we booked. No issue with that at all however it felt like it had been overlooked and was given the least attention. The single glazed sash window frames were dirty and dusty, especially in the shower room. There were cobwebs around the ceiling and the carpet was badly stained. It wasn’t possible to put make up on or dry hair in front of a mirror due to the way the furniture and plugs were positioned. Upon arrival , it was unseasonably cold and the heating in our room and shower room wasn’t working. A plumber was called out the following day but our bathroom was unpleasantly cold, with no means to warm or dry towels. Extra ones were provided but overall it didn’t make for a comfortable stay. When we checked out we asked for a reduction on the room rate as nothing had been taken off to reflect the issues we’d encountered. We were told that ******* still hadn’t paid the hotel for our room (not sure how this had anything to do with us); and we received a small reduction. All of the staff, apart from the woman who served breakfast on our final morning and checked us out, were friendly and helpful. The bed was comfortable and the plumbing problem was fixed eventually but it impacted upon the first evening and first day of our stay. An apology at checkout would have gone a long way but we were made to feel like we were being unreasonable.
