The Lamplighter Bed & Breakfast of Ludington

Everything about this place was wonderful from the beautiful guest rooms to the lovely breakfast but our favorite part was the hearts of our excellent hosts!! We are so blessed to have met them!

My husband and I took a mini-vacation to Ludington in August 2025 and he booked this B&B for our stay. The home is charming and the owners have thought of so many details to add to your comfort and experience. In the morning, you can start your day with a tea and coffee bar with locally sourced tea and cocoa choices for non-coffee drinkers. Breakfast each morning was exceptional and not the usual continental breakfast fare. One morning, we had savory French toast, one morning it was crepes with cherries. I looked forward to breakfast each morning to see what was being served. In the afternoon and evening, they have a treat available near the coffee. One morning was lemon bars and one day was chocolate chip pecan cookies. The cookies were so good, my husband snuck down later on in the evening for another! The owners have mastered the art of being available and accessible and offering space to visitors. They are knowledgeable about the area and happy to share recommendations of things to do, places to eat. The location is great and a reasonable walk (less than a mile) to many of the shops and restaurants in the main area. If you are considering a stay here, make your reservation! You will not be disappointed!

We had the best time at the Lamplighter for our mini-moon after our wedding! Rooms were cozy and inviting, Dan had excellent recommendations for dinner/things to do, and the location was great! Breakfast was AMAZING in the morning too! Dan and Jen made our little getaway so amazing, I would recommend the Lamplighter to friends/family in a heartbeat! :)

The hosts were very friendly and most hospitable. The facility was clean and inviting. The breakfasts were delicious, filling, and pleasing to look at. It was lovely to breakfast outside-the mornings were beautiful. We never heard anyone else in the house although there were others staying at the same time. I would not hesitate to recommend this Bed & Breakfast. We had a most enjoyable stay.

This is the third time we've been to this cozy, welcoming bed and breakfast a short walking distance from Ludington. The 2-course breakfast is inventive and delicious every morning (this morning's breakfast was a lemon-blueberry scone followed by savory French toast, poached egg, bacon, and salad with toasted almonds and Parmesan, with ingredients sourced locally where possible). The Lamplighter is very clean, and beds and pillows are quite comfortable. Downstairs, there's coffee and an assortment of fine tea and hot chocolate all day, as well as fresh-baked cookies. We're parents of elementary school-aged kids and started coming for a couple of nights a few years ago when our kids started going to a nearby sleepaway camp. Now, we look forward to this as our chance to reconnect, with easy access to a pleasant lakeside town, state and national parks, hiking, and other outdoor activities. We hope to be back again next year! Thank you!

Squeaky clean and has all we need in spaces large enough. Lovely and gracious well. You get what you pay for. We stayed across the street for less, but impersonal and tiny. You choose. Easy to walk to dinner. Flexible breakfast times was also a plus as was round the clock snacks and bev.
