Lucus Exclusive B&B

Luca is a typical Tuscan walled town with narrow streets and old buildings which if they are hotels, have obviously been converted to that use. Then you can't expect 4 or 5 stars to mean the same as it does in a modern hotel. Having said that Lucus offered clean bright rooms with no complaints and was run by a small staff of helpful ladies. Breakfast was in a pretty courtyard or garden Don't miss the nightly Opera night at the Church of Saint Giovanni.

Lovely hotel in great central location which is quite close to amenities. Unfortunately there was building work going on next door which forced us to move rooms. Rooms are clean and comfortable but with basic furnishings; no rugs or pictures anywhere which would hint that you were in Tuscany sadly. Staff are fantastic and nothing was too much trouble. Particular praise and thanks to Serena who really helped us with the relocation. Lovely breakfast sadly spoilt by noisy building work from next door close to our breakfast area in the garden. Quick tip - check with hotel that building work is finished and if not, avoid staying in Room 5 and 6, as they are adjacent to the refurbishment going on next door. Couldn’t relax in the lovely gardens due to the noise.

This was our second time staying here . We have been visiting Lucca for over 30 years but can honestly say that we have found Lucus to be the best. Near to the walls, station and great restaurants but a very peaceful quiet place unlike many other hotels.

We booked a what we believed to be a better quality hotel....as the weekend was a bit special as we had tickets Ed Shearan, who was great by the way The prices were massively hiked because of the 2 nights Shearan was performing so we paid approximately double the normal rate. Over 620 euro for two nights..... We were allocated room 1, very nicely presented, clean and well maintained, a round room in a previously square room, rather clever and could have worked really well, but for some form over function mistakes..... What we expected but didn't get for our money, were the following.... No drawers or shelves to unpack, about 10 hangers, that's your lot, the rest of the 'wardrobe' is useless except for holding extra pillows and a safe. So our suitcases remained open and on show...very poor No complimentary bottles of water..each small bottle cost 1.5 euro No decent coffee, at this price we expected a pod machine, not instant coffee sachets!!! Decent towels, yes they were big, but they were not soft or fluffy and very thin Only one easy chair....but weirdly two bar stools at our instant coffee station...which hid the otherwise inaccessible mini bar Annoyingly, not all main room lights are controlled from the bedside The shower control is not thermostatic, so the temperature varied and needed adjustment during a shower Anyone arriving at the hotel has to ring the door bell, the noisy bit of the bell is just that, very noisy, sounds like it's just by the door of room 1 and if you fancy a nap be prepared to be disturbed Lastly, don't be fooled by the title, Luxury bed and breakfast, breakfast is extra too!!!
