Odd stay, there were people loitering around the main entrance and car park a lot. Made us feel really uncomfortable to arrive and leave. Litter all over the place and the rooms were like a bed sit. Food ok but again there people that looked out of place hanging around the restaurant area so didn’t stay long. Not a nice place for a family to stay.

I now no longer need the booking I have made with this hotel and tried to cancel the room over a month ago. I still haven't received a refund for my deposit. The hotel doesn't respond, ignores emails, then responds with confirmation of the refund. Still no refund. I would never book here again. A real shame to have this experience. I wanted to share this, so others can make a decision on whether to book or not.

Excellent hotel very quirky and different from the usual main chains Great breakfast included in the price and not an added Extra. Staff very friendly and helpful. Would stay here again. Old farm and if time take a look at the animals out the back.

Stayed there for 3 days in October as part of the Starfish course to help stammering. The hotel is very quirky on the inside but clean and well kept. The staff went out of their way to be helpful and accommodated me with my Gluten free diet. All the staff were really helpful and understanding with everyone with their stammer and helped us all practice our skills at dinner and breakfast. The food was great and nothing was too much trouble.

I attended a course at the Boship this week and have been many times before. I am always blown away by how wonderful the staff and management are; nothing is too much trouble. Staff are friendly, caring and hard working. The food is great, tasty and well presented. The rooms are clean, comfortable and nicely decorated. And the grounds are plentiful, with nice scenery such as the ponds with water features. I wouldn't want the course I attended to be located anywhere else!

Had to find a hotel at last minute due to being let down from a terrible hotel in Brighton. Had travelled 12 hours down from Dundee via car, and didn’t know this hotel existed! Now I’m glad that we found the hidden gem. We were made to feel so welcome from start to finish. The staff are all so lovely and cater to your every need. The manager Stuart is a cracker, great banter and nothing was too much to ask. We were given a room upgrade on arrival, the room was immaculate, lovely massive bed, tea and coffee facilities, massive wardrobe and the shower was fab. The grounds - beautiful, massive, clean, and lots of gold!! Oscar the ostrich is very friendly and likes being fed, the baby goats so cute too. The water fountains very pretty and lots of outdoor seating which was great considering we were sitting at 36 degrees! Breakfast was great, full cooked and continental with lovely ham, salami, cheese & fruit/cereal etc. We took full advantage of this! We didn’t have an evening meal but we had food microwaved for us and provided with iron/iron board when required. Unfortunately we had travelled down due to having to attend my father in laws funeral, and this place made us so welcome and felt comfortable from the minute we arrived, whilst at the funeral wake everyone was asking to see pictures of the place because it’s reputation is amazing. We took my niece down to meet Oscar and she just loved it. We will 100% be back - I can’t wait to go again. I got a picture with the manager Stuart this morning and I was so gutted to be leaving I even welled up! Definitely recommend anyone who is going to be in the area or even lives in the area to have a stay. Lovely bunch, lovely rooms, lovely homely atmosphere. Next time we are down I’d love to see it in the winter, and I wish all the best to all of the staff and the business. I have travelled all over the place in Europe & went on UK holidays every year with my family when I was younger, but this is the BEST hotel I’ve ever stayed in. Thank you 🙏 🥰

I was here for a wedding last weekend. As soon as you turn into the car park you notice the character of this place. The grounds are stunning!! Koi carp, Emus, ostrich’s, alpacas! It’s like a zoo! The bedroom had just been refurbished! They was lovely and clean. Stuart is a gentleman! He looked after us all. Went above and beyond!!! From entertaining the children… keeping the show on time… checking we was all okay. Even went through the bins to find my broken sunglasses! Highly recommend for a wedding! Thanks again Stuart! 5* top geeza!!!

I had the absolute pleasure of attending a wedding at The Boship Lions Farm Hotel recently, and what a stunning venue it is. The staff where amazing nothing was too much trouble everyone was so helpful and friendly. The rooms where amazing and have just recently been refurbished. The grounds I found to be the jewel in the crown of this Hotel, you can spend hours walking around looking at all the different sculptures and water features, words cannot describe how beautiful, you have to see them yourself. The Hotel also have their own the animals that live on the grounds too, there’s Llamas, Alpacas, Emu, goats and sheep to name just a few. But my favourite was Oscar the Ostrich who I absolutely adored and visited a few times a day to watch him dance, I also fed him some grass, by day 2 I was even brave enough to stroke him. If you have a problem walking like I do that’s not an issue, there are benches and little seating areas strewn all over the grounds for a little rest if needed to catch your breath before continuing on. The function room and the ceremony room where beautifully decorated and Stuart made sure at all times everyone in the wedding party knew what they were doing and where they where going. If you’re think of a wedding venue look no further, this is where you need to book. Thankyou Stuart and your team for an absolutely magical wedding experience, I’ll see you all again soon. Gail

I was attending my sister's wedding at this venue and found manager, Stuart, to be very abrupt, firstly when clearing the tables after dinner, rolling them around recklessly with small children walking around. Secondly, the way he handled a situation, when I admit I was wrongfully consuming a beverage I did not purchase from the bar, although bearing in mind there was no signage to inform me of this, and I was not told previously, I would have expected a more considerate approach. He approached me as if I should have known this rule, he spoke to me rudely and showed a lack of respect, he then did not inform me that I'd receive a fine for this which I was only made aware of when checking out by another member of staff. I feel the people skills for his role are lacking, showing poor customer service skills. This situation could have been handled differently then there wouldn't have been an issue. The situation was caused by his bad attitude and approach. Along with myself multiple other guests had similar negative impressions/experiences
Response from Property: Dear Carl F, Thank you very much for your review of the Boship Lions Farm Hotel. I am very sorry that you felt the need to leave a 1 star review. As it was a wedding and you were under the influence of alcohol, I can only assume this is the reason for our differing opinions on the events of the day. Any other guest would have been asked to leave at any one of the 3 incidents that occurred with you at the wedding. You were not! This was in the spirit of great customer service. We had lots positive feedback from other guests at the wedding including the Bride & Groom and as you can see from our previous comments on TripAdvisor myself and my team are regularly praised for our customer service. Many thanks Stuart Reed General Manager

I have been going to the Boship Hotel for 19 years and have seen it when it’s been ok and really bad. But now it’s got a new manager called Stuart and he is amazing the hotel has come on leaps and bounds since he has been there the last two years. If I could give it ten stars I would nothing is to much trouble for Stuart and Lisa they make a great team. I go on the Starfish course which helps people who have a stammer and Stuart gets really involved in helping as all puts everyone one at ease. The food is good the rooms are lovely just a lovely place to be. So don’t take any notice of all the bad reviews on here about the Boship just go and stay for a few days. Lots of love. David Parrish.
Response from Property: Dear David, With 19 years worth of stays you most likely know the hotel better than I do! So it really does mean a lot to us when you take the time to write such a lovely 5 tsar or even a 10 star review of the hotel as well as the team. Thank you very much, Lisa & I look forward to welcoming you back in May. Many thanks Stuart Reed General Manager

A stay at a quirky hotel, great service. I'd go back. My room was recently redone, and the gardens in the hotel are excellent. My only complait was the lack of the real fire in the bar, although this will be fixed fo my next visit
Response from Property: Dear M170HJjimd, I am really pleased you enjoyed our refurbished bedroom and the extensive grounds. I am sorry about the open fire place in the bar. I will ensure that this is sorted for your next visit. Many thanks Stuart Reed General Manager

I stayed here for a few days and had a fantastic experience. The breakfast and dinners provided were very nice with a wide selection of foods available. Most importantly the staff were incredibly helpful and kind. The grounds of the hotel are also beautiful with plenty to see. Couldn’t recommend enough!
