Four poster room for the night . The bed was comfy and room was very quiet but spoiled by a view of the swimming pool roof and a shower we were unable to use . If I had noticed earlier I would have asked for another room . Breakfast was good but not spectacular .

We were looking forward to a family meal, which turned out to be a terrible afternoon. Took ages to get our food, some items on the menu weren’t available. Our food arrived cold, and then told it was getting too late to serve us desserts as they were closing even though they had an hour until closing. Turned off Christmas lights while we were still eating, staff rude, managers just as rude and unhelpful. Sadly this place is being run down, I used to work at Cisswood 30 years ago which was then a highly rated hotel/restaurant. Unfortunately not anymore, we felt very uncomfortable, unwelcome, we will NOT be returning and will NOT recommend this terrible place!! I would give it zero star rating if it was possible.

My wife and I stayed at the Cisswood for a one night break before the madness of Christmas. We booked a Suite with dinner and breakfast included. The suite was fantastic; with a huge lounge with TV and double sofas, a massive bedroom with extra large (and really comfortable) bed and a sizeable bathroom with separate shower, double sinks and deep bath. It was clean, well Decorated and well maintained. Unfortunately there was a hot water issue which took an hour to resolve, but the staff couldn’t have been more helpful. Once reported, maintenance turned up quickly and Sam on the desk rang us repeatedly to provide updates and check in on us. She arranged for our dinner reservation to be pushed back to give us time to prepare once the water was fixed, and sent up a seafood sharing platter as an apology; to keep us going before dinner. During dinner, the manager visited us at our table to apologise for the water problem and presented us with a bottle of Prosecco which was a really lovely touch. Later, Sam from reception also introduced herself and again apologised. In my opinion, mistakes and problems happen, but it’s how things are dealt with that makes the difference, and the hotel could not have done a better job. Our stay was not ruined by the problem; rather enhanced by the experience of being made to feel attended to and valued. There was a Christmas Party event happening in the hotel which most guests were attending but we heard no noise from our room and slept soundly. Also worth mentioning that the lady who looked after us in the restaurant warned us that there might be a delay in the food due to the Christmas Party making the kitchen busy, but we did not experience any delay and she looked after us perfectly….and the food was amazing! A huge thanks to the staff! Amazing team!

We spent a night there by way of celebrating my birthday using a voucher. The staff were aware of this and were helpful. However, afraid am not able to say the same for the manager - Vicky. We were allocated possibly the worse room in the hotel despite it not being busy which we felt was rather mean - simply because we used the voucher to cover our stay. The room was tiny, in need of updating and the radiator was not working so the room was cold and miserable. The view was shocking - faced a dumping area with rubbish/litter. We had wanted to stay for 2 nights but so relieved we did not as it was not worth the price was so ever. They were also wanting to charge us £30 for breakfast!!!! As the manager was so ungracious we decided to not to book an extra night and also did not feel we could dine in the hotel contrary to our initial intention of a birthday celebration that they then claimed to not know anything about as no one had allegedly put it on the system despite having tried to get the reservation 2 weeks in advance and then had to keep ringing them as they are only open Thursday to Sunday. Finally got Sam who was helpful. The hotel has a lot of potential but sadly wasted. They have a small swimming pool , jacuzzi and sauna, that was not being used. All they need to do was to have a few relaxing loungers for guests to relax. The entrance has an oldy worldly feel and the early Xmas lights made it look pretty but unfortunately that was all there was to it. However, the staff we came across were lovely and very helpful but sounds as though they tip toe around the management. There are a lot better spa hotels in the area that are much better value for money. Good luck if you choose to stay here. Sadly, we were not advised to book a treatment in advance and they stopped at 2 pm. A rather sad looking place to stay.

We had an amazing day at the spa and at brunch today. Bessie was a dream and looked after us between our spa, brunch and treatments. The spa products were delicious and made for a relaxing afternoon. We’ll definitely back soon!!!

We stayed here on the last night of our honeymoon specifically with the intention of going to Restaurant Interlude down the road. Knowing we’d be spending a fortune on that, we didn’t want to pay too much for a room; however, this was still meant to be an executive room, but it wasn’t worth what we paid. On the upside, we had a huge comfy bed and the lattice window was very pretty with all the leaves outside overhanging and turning golden, but all else in the room was quite basic and a bit tired (cracked lampshades, a bathroom that was a bit stark and probably hasn’t been updated since the 90s)- this was also reflected in the corridors, though the reception itself seemed quite oldy woldy and nice. The receptionist was very pleasant, though later when I asked where the bar was as she was leaving for the night she failed to mention that it was actually closed. This was about 11:45pm and given that the folder in the room said the bar was open 24/7 for residents this was a bit disappointing, especially considering that there seemed to be some sort of function/party going on there as well; most disappointing, though, was the cocky attitude of the young man who told us the bar was closed- he didn’t seem remotely bothered. Parking was ample, easy and free.

We had our wedding here in September and it was everything we hoped it would be. The service we received from all at the hotel was amazing and our day ran smoothly and without any issues. Our room was just beautiful and we enjoyed everything second. All our guests commented on what a lovely venue it was and how good the service was. Massive shout out to Gemma and the team for all the help they provided and making me feel welcome and calm on my very special day. Would highly recommend cisswood and we will be coming back to enjoy the facilities again. Thank you so much. Enza & Chris. Xx
