Altos de Caño Hondo

This property is so unique and being surrounded by Los Haitises national park is gorgeous. The room was very spacious and clean with an adorable balcony and hammock to enjoy the view. We did a tour of the park by boat and hike with Wilfred and highly recommend this to make the most of your stay. All our meals were delicious! We had breakfast and dinner included and bought lunch while there as well (the location is remote, so once there you can’t just run into town for things). It was a little cool to enjoy the pools since we were there at the end of December but we loved walking around the property and checking them out. All staff were incredibly kind and helpful. My husband speaks Spanish which was definitely helpful but we could have gotten by without it if needed. We would go back again in a heartbeat! The only negatives I would note are communication with the hotel prior to arrival was difficult and without their own website it was hard to get information on what to expect prior to arrival. The road leading in, as mentioned in the reviews we saw, is a little rough but you are rewarded with the seclusion of the location.

Amazing! Great view of Bahia San Lorenzo, rooms are spacious and the breakfast is delicious. Experience to Los Haitises available. Nice staff! Free parking and WiFi. Water and coffee available all the time. The natural pool comes from a river with cold and runny water.

This hotel was really cool the way it is laid out. Unfortunately for the day I stayed there it was pouring rain. My room was nice and cozy, while the food was excellent. The hotel is located right in prime birding areas, and since I was on a birding tour this was a big plus. This is primarily the only area to find Ridgway's Hawk (a critically endangered raptor), and our group managed to see it right after we arrived. I believe this is the only decent hotel in the general area and it just happens to be a nice one.

Best hotel in our ten days in DR. Superb rural setting, very impressive architecture and layout, wonderful staff, great facilities. Good food but need to chose carefully! Ridgway's Hawk just ten mins walk form hotel :)

A truly amazing experience. The view from the hotel is extraordinary, the staff among the friendliest and politest you can imagine, and the food delicious (try the fish in coconut sauce with tostones - it’s delicious). We also made an amazing tour with the hotel guide Wilfred - including a fantastic morning kayak tour, visits to caves and a hike through the jungle (all highly recommended). The rooms are clean and nice with beautiful balconies. It is great that you can use the natural pools of the neighboring hotel. This is a place you really shouldn’t miss when in Dominican Republic.
