Cabo Surf Hotel

Stayed for 7 nights so we really got a good sense of what the place is like. The good: Wonderfully close to the water, especially if you get one of the beach front rooms. I suspect any room on the back of the buildings will be noisy though, as the highway goes *right* behind it. Cleaning staff seemed excellent. And generally this would be a good place to go for a shorter stay, if you like surfing. The not so good: We noticed when arriving and any time near the gates an overwhelming stench of sewage. We never could figure out where it was coming from. Very close to the highway. You could hear road noise when you were away from the ocean. Only one restaurant and nothing is walkable. I want to note that some other reviews have mentioned “not much” is walkable and I want to make sure to specify that *literally* nothing is walkable. This place is right off a highway, there is no sidewalk, and the beach is bookended by large cliff/rocks. I’m big on exploring on foot and was pretty disappointed to find out I’d need to take a car to get anywhere. The food in the only restaurant is hit or miss. I had some very good ravioli and enchiladas but some very overcooked shrimp and extremely salty avocado toast. The lunch menu is exorbitantly expensive; if you’d like a simple chicken quesadilla it’s $20 USD. And that doesn’t include the 17% Vat. Rooms are very bare bones. Minimal soaps, only one bottle of water which is replaced if you ask your room to be cleaned. The pools were rather small and very very warm. It was like swimming in a hot tub. This is not hyperbole as the upper pool hot tub was indistinguishable in temperature from the pool itself. The lower pool only marginally so. Because of the small size of the property when it’s full it felt very crowded. The beach is nice but not the most swimmable if that’s what you’re looking for. You can’t walk very far down the beach because there are rocks blocking the way on either side. This could be a pro and a con. Very steep grade in the hallways. My partner slid and fell once. Just be careful but also if you have issues walking take note. The staff is decent. About 30% of them are very nice, the others a little rude or passive at best. Rooms a bit bare bones for what you’d expect at $300-$600 USD per night. Very limited toiletries, horrendous coffee situation (tiny oster drip coffee machine with unknown grounds and powdered creamer). The coffee in the restaurant was also very poor. You also get locked out on the beach when they close the doors. The time the doors close varies. Today we got locked out at only 7pm.

My son and daughter in laws wedding was at Cabo Surf. I can’t say enough how wonderful this hotel and staff is. From Caroline with all her organization and planning for the wedding was perfect , and to the chef who cooked my husband special meals, then every single staff member was exceptional. My husband was hurt, and had issues walking and they cared for him, ice, helping up and down stairs etc. Honestly it was such a wonderful weekend and beautiful wedding I couldn’t have dreamed of anything better!!! Thank you again to all the staff at Cabo Surf!!!❤️

Such an incredible stay at this hotel. My wife and I came here for the first part of our honeymoon. This place really has it all. We surfed at least twice a day and there’s no need to travel with your surfboard as they have good boards to rent for the length of your stay. You can either leave the board on the racks adjacent to the beach or bring it up to your room. The food at 7 Seas Restaurant was incredible - they even had a Thanksgiving dinner. When we weren’t surfing we enjoyed hanging out at the pools and hot tubs or walking on the sand.

I rarely feel compelled to write reviews and I have been in six different hotels over the last eight weeks traveling again like pre-Covid, but this hotel always leaves me wanting to come back for more. The staff at the hotel led by Carolina, the food at seven seas restaurant on site, the spa and massages, the swimmable beach and surf along with the pool make this my go to spot for a taste of what I think Mexico is best at. I was there last week for five nights, and hardly left the property except to go to the art walk in San Jose and while I was there booked rooms for the week before Christmas so I could have my kids and my girlfriends kids see what it is that I love so much about the place. It also helps that it’s close in from the airport and I refuse to stay near downtown Cabo. I’m not sure what else to say except that this is such a value, I hope they don’t realize what a value it is, and it keeps producing like it does! Highly recommend it!

Seven Seas restaurant is a hidden Gem! We love the view, the vibe and most of all excellent food and great service! We were there for a birthday lunch with an exciting bottle of Mexican sparkling bubbles and great service by Ricardo at the restaurant and Leta at the beach for cocktails. The calamari and shrimp tacos were delicious and everything is reasonably priced. With timeshare stay exchange at a large resort, we know we are always welcome to rent beach chairs, umbrella and slip away from the madness of oversized pools and loud music. Here, we can watch the surfers, swim in the swim-able area and listen to nothing but the surf break. It was very romantic at lunch too at Seven Seas and we were surprised with a lovely dessert after lunch. The pace and vibe are super chill. Thanks to Ricardo for making our experience once again, memorable.

I have always loved dining at this hotel while in Cabo and decided to stay there for a night this trip. They placed me in a room overlooking the parking lot. The shower was only cold water and, even after I let management know, remained that way with no change or other accommodations. The room had a wall AC unit that would not adjust or blow cool air. I called the front desk on the middle of the night to help resolve and no one answered. This is a beautiful hotel right on the beach, but the service and accommodations left much to be desired. I won’t be back.
