The Staging Post

I'm moving from Gold Coast to Darwin and after I drove 1200 km in 14 hours I had I excellent sleep night in one of the rooms. The room is amazing

Wow! The best accommodation. They have replicated last century living, but still have all the mid comforts. Everything was so authentic all the way to the coaches in the carpark! Even the old style grey blankets were there, just like my childhood

We were charge $220 and after paying were told we could only park in the street . As we were travelling in a twin cab with spare tyres tools, etc this was not an option. After some discussion we were able to park within the motel. There was no milk , no onsite management and no access to wifi or tv stations, could only find one channel. Would not recommend for the above reasons. Overseas. visitors would love decor I am sure , but at this price would not recommend.

I stayed in the coach inn and it was wonderful. Everything was at hand that you would need'. Reception staff so accommodating, fresh milk on asking. Large walk-in robe, great to store your case. Could not fault the room. The entry to your room could be accessed in two directions, so you did not have to go past reception every time.

We have had a wonderful experience in Outback Queensland, but sadly the only disappointment of our road trip through Roma, Charleville, Winton and Longreach was The Staging Post. We chose this property for location in the heart of town. The aircon was a necessity as the room was very cold, but the roaring noise was unbearable in the room and could not sleep, when turned off, we could hear the next door neighbours air cons. The carparking is limited and we had to park the car on the street, and after 6.30pm there is no access through the reception to the front, guests need to use the back lane. The brightness in the room at night is also a factor in not being able to sleep, with outside lights and flimsy curtain/ screens, not to mention a mattress that needs replacing with a blanket that was army issue (heavy and scratchy). Our room was located beside the service access lane and laundry, so it was very noisy early morning and late at night with contractors/staff coming and going. Reception satff seemed more interested in selling tour tickets than looking after their house guests. Our accommodation experience at The Staging Post was the only negative in a very positive week in OQ.

A property/room that disappointed us when we walked in. The tariff paid is well over its worth in our opinion. The room was very small unlike portrayed by the photos. The place is nicely decorated but in a very dark theme that made it drab. The bathroom has no privacy and is really just all one room. The plumbing is terrible, with noise heard from your neighbours talking and plumbing is very loud. The wash basin is the size of small plate. There is no onsite parking allowed even though there are spots. It’s off street only.
