This hotel transports you back in time to the art deco era. This small, elegant hotel exudes charm and personalized service. The decor and level of service reminded me of a very small st Regis. Since it is so small, the wellesley definitely does have a couple of drawbacks which may be deal breakers for you. 1. No fitness center. 2. No concierge lounge 3. No buffet breakfast 4. Virtually no drawer space in the room. Although I enjoyed our stay, we stayed here for 5 nights and I would have liked to unpack. The lack of drawer space made this impossible so we had to live out of our suitcases during our stay. My wife has ambassador status with Marriott and we were upgraded to an executive room but the storage was sadly lacking for 5 nights. Our son was in an entry level room with the same lack of drawer space. It would have made our stay much more enjoyable to have been upgraded to a larger room with adequate drawer space. The website showed that suites were available for our 5 night stay but I suppose management hoped to book these. The hotel is quite small but we rarely encountered any other guest during our stay. It is a bit annoying to spend over 100 nights at Marriott properties each year but not get upgraded to the best room available. Positives The hotel is very easy to get to from Heathrow. Simply take the Piccadilly line and get off at Hyde park corner. There is an escalator and then a ramp up to the street. Use exit 3/4 and the hotel entrance is about 50 steps on your left Every room has a butler. Arrange for a wake up call and your butler will bring you complementary coffee with some small cookies. I enjoyed this leisurely way to start each day We love to walk in London and the hotel is well located within a half hour walk of many top London destinations. The hotel also has a complementary car service. Their BMW will drop you anywhere within a mile radius of the hotel (1st come first served) As ambassador, we opted for the free daily breakfast. You will receive a complementary continental breakfast that includes 2 of the best warm croissant I have ever had. You can swap the continental breakfast for another menu option such as full English breakfast, French toast, or omelet for an up charge of 8 pounds. Complementary daily newspapers were available in the breakfast room as well On previous London visits, we have stayed at the Sheraton grand, county hall, Grosvenor house, and st ermin’s. The Wellesley is definitely the most luxurious experience but the small size of the hotel poses the drawbacks I have mentioned. If you will only stay a day or 2, you may want to experience the Wellesley but for longer stays, a larger full service hotel may be a better choice

The best honeymoon experience in London. Since we arrived, my wife and I were treated very friendly by the Wellesley staff to celebrate our honeymoon. We were then offered a free upgrade to a gorgeous Junior Suite with a Christmas tree. The upgrade was accompanied by flowers and Veuve Clicquot bottle. We have to add that the Luxury Collection hotel felt like out own London private appartment. Everyone was so friendly, especially the GM, Mr. Prabakaran. The concierge team helped us to secure a beautiful table at the Alain Ducasse 3 restaurant. I am so grateful for creating such a wonderful honeymoon experience for me and my wife. Have to add that the cigar lounge and the liquor and wine bottles are amazing! Can’t wait to stay at The Wellesley again, next time we visit London!

Received a warm and friendly welcome and appreciated the wonderful staff members throughout the stay. It’s a lovely personal experience thanks to it being a boutique hotel. Naz the doorman was particularly helpful to me - he helped me to find my taxi (who was lost) and carried my bag up the street with me to make sure I got in the car safely when I was on my own. Also it was a real pleasure to have a complementary luxury car service to take you anywhere within a 1.5mile radius - especially as there are some incredible shops and restaurants close by. If you could prebook the car service for restaurant reservations that would be even better. While the service was great, the rooms are disappointing for the price. While the bed is very comfortable, the rooms are small and not well equipped for getting ready. There was no dressing table or area that I could sit down with a mirror to style my hair and do my make up. Also as there are no tea or coffee facilities in the room, it may be a nice idea to leave a card in the room that must be completed by a certain time in the evening and left outside the door by guests, indicating if you’d like to be woken with a tea or coffee to the room. I feel this would compensate nicely and complement the butler service as advertised, beyond standard room service. As with many other reviews, if you dislike the smell of cigar smoke, you may want to avoid the bars in this hotel. The scent does cascade down the entrance and hallways in the evening. My husband quite enjoyed the smell, but as a non-smoker, I did not. You can tell the staff work hard to ensure it is contained as much as possible. There was a wonderful selection of wines and champagne on display, and the cocktails were fabulous. It would be nice to have a separate bar for guests who are not into cigars to enjoy.

Great team that is very helpful and personable. Each of them was so personable that we felt like family. The service was perfect, and the smoking lounge is a great place to hang out, even if you don't have a cigar! The room is well-appointed, the bed is very comfortable, and the sheets are the softest. There are fun pubs within a 5-minute walk, which was a bonus, and Harrah's is a 10-minute walk.

This is the most incredible hotel I have ever stayed in - it will forever be my London go-to. The staff are kind and welcoming. Every-time you step into the building they are ready with the door open, with a warm smile to greet you. They ask all about your day and really put effort in to establish a connection. You really do feel like royalty with everyone happy to assist with anything you need. In particular I would love to thank DJ who checked us in and showed us to our room, you really made the experience. Also to Arthur the driver, it was so lovely to chat and hear your stories - happy retirement, I hope you have a fantastic well deserved rest! And to Fred, who was only in his second week and was absolutely lovely - possibly the kindest hotel staff member I have ever met. As for the rooms, they are gorgeous. So clean with every amenity you could ask for. The bed is so comfortable - the best sleep I’ve ever had in a hotel with absolutely no outside noise. It was our anniversary and the hotel kindly upgraded our room - they gave us cake and a handwritten card signed by all the staff! I can honestly say we couldn’t have had a better time and that was thanks to this hotel! I do not have a single negative comment. I read a review that complained about cigar smoke smell, but we did not experience this at all. Once again, thank you so so much. I cannot wait to be back.

On my recent visit to The Wellesley Hotel in London, I was looking forward to spending a quiet evening smoking a cigar, an activity I have enjoyed at this place since 2017. I was surprised by an unexpected reception when I tried to book a table. A person dressed in a black suit, with an arrogant attitude, informed me that they do not reserve tables and that if I wanted to sit, I had to do so immediately. This behavior was shocking and unexpected from a hotel with the reputation of The Wellesley. Despite this poor reception, I decided to return in the evening to enjoy my usual time. Unfortunately, the same person greeted me with the same arrogance and told me that all the tables were reserved. I did not expect a well-known hotel like The Wellesley to treat its customers in this manner, especially since I have been a regular patron for years. This person's unprofessional and disrespectful behavior significantly affected my experience at the place. I would not recommend visiting this hotel to anyone seeking courteous and respectful service. **Negative Points:** 1. **Poor Reception:** The treatment was arrogant and disrespectful. 2. **Lack of Professionalism:** The way I was informed about the inability to reserve a table was inappropriate. 3. **Service Inconsistency:** In my evening visit, I was told that all tables were reserved, raising questions about the professionalism of the person in charge. My experience at The Wellesley Hotel was disappointing, and I will not be returning to this place again.
