We enjoyed our stay—lively neighborhood, good public transport, great breakfast, welcoming staff. The room was tiny. The heat was stifling and we slept with the windows open with the attendant street noise. No elevator so be prepared to lug your luggage up narrow stairs. Did I mention the room was tiny? It was.

I've stayed here and at your sister hotel, Culpeper, a few times now—sometimes on my own, other times with my child—and every stay has been fantastic! The rooms are always spotless and perfectly equipped for a short stay. They are a bit snug, especially the Buxton ones, but let’s be honest, you don’t come to London to lounge in your room! My only tiny gripe would be the shower curtains—I wish they were weighted or heavier so they didn’t cling during a wash, but that’s honestly the only thing I could fault. What really keeps me coming back, though, is the incredible staff. Welcoming, charming, fun, and wonderfully efficient—they truly go above and beyond. Nothing ever feels like too much trouble, and their warmth and lovely personalities make every visit so special. It’s this genuine, thoughtful service that makes me hesitant to try anywhere else! The less formal, more personal style of hospitality is such a refreshing touch, and those small, friendly interactions always leave a lasting impression. Absolutely excellent all around!

Great stay at the Buxton. Room small but had everything you needed. It was clean and warm, weather was rather cold. The staff were helpful and friendly storing bags before check-in and out. The breakfast was very nice with a choice of ingredients, impressed they served fresh orange. The only downside was some noise from the street but they do supply you with ear plugs. We would return to the Buxton.

I’d visited The Buxton for food on a previous trip to London but had never stayed. I like Brick Lane and the surrounding area - it’s a great all round location - so we chose it as a base for our three night weekend stay. As expected, our room was on the small side, but it was clean, comfortable and just about big enough for two. The Nespresso machine was a welcome bonus. Although it’s a busy street, we had no problem with noise, and we didn’t need to use the ear plugs they provide. The room was service daily very efficiently, with fresh towels and tea-coffee top ups. Downstairs, staff were friendly, service was efficient and breakfast each morning was excellent. We tried a few different things are were happy with all of them. For central London, The Buxton is very well priced and conveniently located.

An amazing place to stay that is so close to everything you need to get to in Central London! About 2 mins walk to Aldgate East Tube station if the closest entry is open (during busy times), only a total of 5 minutes to the other entry if it’s not. Comfortable bed, lovely en-suite bathroom, wonderful service from all staff and the cooked breakfast every day in the pub (included in rate!) was superb. No complaints whatsoever, this was a wonderful experience! My flight came in before 9am and I stopped by expecting to just drop my luggage and was told that I could go straight to my room, which was amazing and allowed me to decompress from a very long travel day. Thank you to everyone at the Buxton, I will be back!

Stayed at The Buxton last weekend when in London for a family wedding. Super central location, food was amazing, service superb and room comfortable. Check in went really smoothly. Would highly recommend eating here as the food is divine.

Cute hotel. Very small rooms with no space/i.e. chair to put (our very small) luggage but for us this wasn't an issue. Also stairs, no elevator. Good exercise to climb to the 3rd floor :). Some noise from the street but not too much. No privacy in the toilet because of the glass door, you can hear everything to the room, so don't stay here with someone you're not very close with :). Breakfast ok, a bit varying level of service quality every morning (the first morning the waiter offered us mushrooms and avocado with the eggs florentine, the last morning the other waiter didn't offer anything extra and had to wait a looong time for the food). Also the first morning there was no avocado. All the waiters were not very familiar with the concept of gluten free food. There might be gluten (wheat/barley/rye flour) in other products than in wheat bread, too :) Warm (but not too) water in the shower. Very clean room. The power socket near the bed close to floor level wasn't working. Very small (one) garbage bin. Ok stay for a couple of nights.

The Buxton is a great, affordable place to stay, in a good location. Downstairs, you find a smart pub, with friendly, engaged staff. A perfect place for drinks, dinner and a lovely breakfast in the morning (which is included in the room rate). The rooms are small, comfortable and offer everything you need (Nespresso/Tea, Good Shower, Quality Bathroom Toiletries etc …). Soundproofing between rooms is not perfect, but not a problem. You are a couple of minutes walk from the nearest Underground Station and close to Spitalfields Market, Shoreditch, Brick Lane and Whitechapel, which has great shops and places to eat - placing you in the heart of ‘Hip London’. For the price and considering the cost of bland, chain hotels in London, this is a great option.
