The Lanesborough, Oetker Collection

It would be wrong to suggest that we are "regulars" at the Lanesborough - our resources would not allow that - but it is true that we do try and book lunch there every couple of months. Our experience of the food and service has always been excellent and when coupled with an incentive like an inclusive bottle of wine or free champagne we are enthusiastic diners. However, there are some administrative issues that the Lanesborough could do well to address. Last time we were early and took pre-lunch drinks in the lounge. We asked for the set lunch menu to peruse and were supplied with the wrong menu. We challenged it but were told that despite it being endorsed at the dinner menu it was still appropriate for lunch. Of course when we finally arrived in the restaurant - we were forgotten in the lounge for some time - the proper menu arrived. No problem - there was something for us without difficulty but the experience was disconcerting for a facility that claims to excel in customer service. Today, we had booked for lunch after I had received an e-mail from them saying that to welcome me back a free glass of champagne would be provided. All I had to do apparently was show the e-mail upon arrival. I telephoned in advance to check that free champagne would be available and was subject to a "third degree" interrogation on the phone insisting I give details of when the e-mail had been sent and its contents. Upon arrival I was subject to the same examination, compounded by the fact that I could not immediately locate the appropriate e-mail. Surely all they had to do was consult the list of customers to whom they has sent the message to avoid the time consuming and embarrassing scrutiny upon arrival. Having said all that the lunch was up to the usual high standard with superb service - the somelier (Alexandro I think) was extremely helpful and well informed. Highly recommended but please work on your staff communication to ensure customers are not inconvenienced.

This was my first visit to The Lanesborough, and I have to say, it was exceptional in all aspects. The day was particularly rainy, and the steward, Milton, went above and beyond to ensure my guest and I were accommodated. When I returned later in the day with my wife and daughter (we were struggling to get across London) Milton recognised me and jumped to my aid by arranging a taxi - Thank you.

When I arrived last Monday to stay at my flat in Mayfair, I discovered that there was no hot water and it was expected to be off for several days. I have never stayed in an hotel in London, so went online to book a room. The Lanesborough was around the corner from me and it had an abundance of glowing reviews. From the moment I stepped out of the taxi with my luggage, I was astounded by the incredibly superior level of competent and charming service. The staff never faltered and at the end of my brief stay, I was still overwhelmed by the way they make each guest feel cherished and cosseted until they say goodbye to you at the front entrance. This isn’t an accident, nor down to good luck. It is a beautifully and rather faultlessly executed level of service which is simply down to choosing the right fit of employees who enjoy working in such an uplifting environment. The room and bedding were very comfortable. I ordered room service for supper and the food was promptly delivered and delicious. The next morning, I asked to see the spa and George Hiley-Jones, Deputy Head of Rooms, was kind enough to spare a very generous amount of his time to show me the facilities available to guests. This beautiful spa is an oasis of quietude and serenity, all of this in the heart of a bustling city. So this hotel can’t be this perfect, can it? Yes, it can and it is.

It is a beautiful hotel and everything looked clean and polished and the bathrooms had lovely soft hand towels and the staff there also looked happy - which is really nice as not always the case in nice hotels around the world. I want to say a big thank you to Joseph who greeting me at the door with a big smile and even showed me around some of the lobby and offered to take some photos. He was so kind and made me feel right at home.

Fantastic hotel, my favourite in London. And probably one of the best hotels worldwide. What can I say? The butler service is superb, the gym/spa is a dream, and the rooms are very nice (old fashioned English style which I usually don’t like but at this hotel it is just right). My kids loved Lilibet, the hotel cat. The best though is - at least for me - the cigar bar. I am always impressed that their staff, and most notably Cesar, always recognise me even if I haven’t stayed at The Lanesborough for a year. During my last stays, there were a couple of hiccups, but the hotel always tried to make it right. Can‘t wait to come back.

The Lanesborough is the epitome of class, service and top notch amenities making for a one of a kind stay and experience. The moment we walked through the doors, we felt special and convinced that everyone was going to go over and above to make this a stay to remember. They exceeded our expectations ..everything from the room, the fitness center/spa, and the library bar which is as cozy as it is beautiful. However, what truly stands out is each and every staff member starting with the porters, the butler team, the concierge team, the management ...they were friendly and knowledgeable and made you feel like family. London is a great city but staying at the Lanesborough was truly the highlight of this trip. We can't wait to come back .

Excellent, first-class service and quiet, pleasant rooms. Restaurant and the bar with very good cuisine and service. Very attentive and courteous employees.

Excellent service from staff in all areas, beautiful rooms and great location. The Valet parking and the Butler service was an extra treat, and very convenient!
