The Moorgate by Cove

The appartement was very clean, lovely and well laid-out and very well equipped. BUT not warm enough. We were really cold. We turned up the heating but it didn't work. We asked the receptionnist if we could get an extra quilt or cover, he said that was not possible and that he would write it down for the housekeeper the next day. No extra quilt was given the next day. Plus, the shower water was not very warm either . I would recommend the place in the summer but not in the winter.

I very much enjoyed my stay. Easy to book and check-in. The location is absolutely perfect, being convenient yet nice and quiet at night. Everything you need is in the apartment.

Location is great, the room is nice and stylish. Cleaning once a week is very convenient. However, the building sits right over the tube station, so you feel every train by your guts. Also, every night and every morning there is a loud disturbing noise, like some pump is switching on or something. This is annoying. Also, the facility doesn’t have a post box, so if you need to get a mail from your bank, you won’t get it highly likely.

I am an East Ender who has lived in the US since 2001. When I come "home" every year. I primarily stay in hotels but this trip I picked The Moorgate by Cove as (a) it is close to the tube and overground rail services I use and (b) the great reviews. The Moorgate by Cove opened in March 2023 so everything is still relatively new. I stayed in a one bedroom apartment. I am not sure who designed the rooms but I am certain it is not someone who travels or has a problem bending down. Based on the great reviews I appreciate that some of the following are not an issue for other travelers but I feel they are worthy of a mention as they may impact the comfort of your stay: (1)There is no wardrobe/closet in the bedroom. There is a two tiered clothes rack for items that can go on a hanger but nowhere to store any other clothes. There is a shelved cupboard opposite the kitchen area but the shelves are too shallow for storing clothing, shoes etc. Consequently you have to live out of your suitcase but there is very little floor space around the bed to store it. They do not have luggage racks so suitcases will be on the floor (bending over). (2) As I discovered on my first night, the floor of the shower is as slippery as a sheet of ice. They did provide me with a non slip mat but frankly these should be in the showers as a matter of safety. (3) The ceilings are high so the pan shower is far from your head unless you are about 6'5". I'm sure this is not an issue for everyone but if you have long hair like me it is pretty ineffectual at rinsing the shampoo from your hair. (4) There is nowhere in the shower for your own toiletries (mentioned in a previous review). The only place to put them is on the shower floor (bending over). (5) There is a hairdryer but nowhere to plug it in by a mirror (mentioned in a previous review) (6) The safe is on the bottom shelf of the shelving unit in the kitchen. More bending required and you have to get down on all fours to check it is empty. (7) An ironing board is provided but due to the lack of a wardrobe or closet it takes pride of place next to the sofa in the living room. (8) The kitchen was very well equipped. The cutlery drawer is under the oven (more bending). There is a mini dishwasher however the dinner plates are too big for it. There is nowhere to drain items you wash by hand. (9) On TripAdvisor housekeeping is listed as a Room Feature. To clarify it is provided every 7 days otherwise there is a cost. (10) There is nowhere to store luggage at The Moorgate. You can store it at their property 10 minutes away but that is extremely inconvenient. With regard to my "luck" vs other travelers I had the following issues: (1) The towels are thick and fluffy but contained curly short black hairs that were not mine. Staff were extremely apologetic and switched them out. (2) No hot water on Tuesday evening or Wednesday morning. This was due to an issue with the boiler and impacted the entire building. Having to travel frequently and spending my evenings locked in various Hotel rooms this was a refreshing change. Room was lovely not overly spacious but well laid out with defined sperate eating , sitting and sleeping areas , kitchen fully functional with everything you need , oven was surprisingly efficient , all utensils there , lovely bathroom with rain shower , TV was fine and temperature reactive and surprisingly quiet so close to the road !! And amazingly an iron that didn't ruin your clothes by putting dirty marks through the water bed was very comfy as were pillows didn't get my entry code when advised but a quick call on the number and spoke to a lovely lady named Mariatu who was very polite and helpful and a pleasure to deal with ............ code was in my inbox 10 mins later The QR code for the oven instructions didn't work but a quick google and all was resolved ! Plenty of things to do in the area , M&S 2 mins up the road for food Honestly can say I would stay again without question next time in London and would thoroughly recommend this to anyone who wants a change from the usual hotel room boredom .......

Stayed here for work mid-week. Location is good with restos and bars close by. No receptionist so no help if had an issue. The room was well equipped but had to download a user manual to get the oven working. Not ideal. Place was clean and comfortable. Wifi was good.
