I went for a day on a whistle stop to Brighton and boy was it great! The staff were lovely and the vending machines are always, always, always stocked! The decoration is also lovely and modern with a tube map on the wall! Speaking of tubes, there is a station really near so you can easily travel

I stayed here for work for three nights. It was awful. I was in a room with one colleague and it was a room for four with two bunk beds. We had a bottom bunk each. The bunks are metal and creak every time you move. There was one small sink in the room. The showers were not far away and they were okay. Clean enough and the water a good temperature. The toilets were in need of some attention. Sometimes the flush was a bit dodgy and some of the cubicles were tiny, you barely had room to move inside them. The corridors were old and the floors made loud noises every time someone went up and down outside. The stairs up to the rooms are being held up by scaffolding poles that you have to navigate around to get up and down. But the WORST thing about this place is that it is just across the road from St Pauls Cathedral and the bells are rung every 15 minutes through the whole night. It's like they are going off right next to your head. There is no double glazing in the building or any other form of soundproofing. I was ill from sleep deprivation by the time I left.
Response from Property: Dear devongirlie67, Thank you for taking the time to share your feedback. We sincerely apologize that your stay did not meet your expectations and that you encountered several challenges during your time with us. We understand how important a comfortable and restful environment is, especially during a work trip. We regret that the noise from St. Paul's Cathedral, we offer free noise plugs at reception, as well as the issues with the room and facilities, affected your experience. Please know that we take all feedback seriously and will be reviewing your comments with our team to identify areas for improvement. Regarding the bunk beds, corridor noise, and the condition of the toilets and stairways, we will be addressing matter to ensure they are rectified for future guests. We also recognize the impact of the cathedral bells and are exploring ways to better manage the noise levels in our rooms. Once again, we apologize for the inconvenience you experienced. Your feedback is invaluable as it helps us to enhance our services. We hope that you might consider staying with us again in the future so we can provice you with a more comfortable and positive experience. Thank you for bringing these matters to our attention. Warm regards. Jose Luis Carbonero Team Member at YHA St. Paul's

I'm a big YHA fan and have stayed in many wonderful hostels around the country. This experience was without question the worst. We were in a room on the top floor that was ridiculously hot and uncomfortable. Even in the morning when the temperature outside was 15 degrees, inside the room it was still hot and stuffy. The night before and overnight when it was warmer outside was worse / hell. They know it is too hot as they place a large fan in the room, but turning this on is just noisy and not conducive to sleep / just blows warm air over you. The windows hardly open and certainly not enough for any form of breeze to come through. Due to the heat, my daughter got 1-2 hours sleep. I got just 4 hours sleep. We needed large amounts of water to get through the night. It was also the room not the hostel as communal areas had comfortable temperatures. Never will I step foot inside this hostel again. Nor was it cheap. £187 for the night for four people. A complete rip off for what we received which I wouldn't wish on anyone.
Response from Property: Dear jeffreyBl5936AK, Thank you for taking the time to share you feedback with us. We are truly sorry to hear that your recent stay at YHA. St. Paul did not meed your expectations, particularly regarding the temperature i your room. We understand how uncomfortable it can be to sleep in a hot and stuffy room, and we apologize for the inconvenience this caused you and your daughter. Our goal is to provide a comfortable and pleasant stay for all out guests, and it is clear we feel short during your visit. We appreciate your comment about the fans and the window situation. Your feedback is invaluable and will help us address these issues more effectively. We are currently looking into solutions to improve ventilation and temperature control in our rooms to ensure a better experience for future guests. We hope you might consider giving us another change in the future to provide you with the positive experience you have come to expect from YHA hostels. Warm regards, Jose Luis Carbonero Team Member YHA. St. Paul

Stayed here for one night in a single room. Great value for money. The hostel it self was quite but you cann here the bells from St pauls cathedral, however there was free ear plugs at reception if need. The shower tiny so be prepared for that. The breakfast was good. No lift so lots of stairs, but that's due to the nature of the building. You can leave luggage before checkin and on check out. Easy to find and in a great location for exploring
Response from Property: Thank you for taking the time to share your feedback. We're delighted to hear that you found our stay to be great value for money and enjoyed our breakfast offerings. Our central locations indeed perfect for exploring the area, and we're glad you found it convenient. We're please to know you found our luggage storage service helpful. Thank you once again for your valuable comments. We hope to welcome you back in the future. Best regards. Jose Luis Carbonero Team Member YHA St. Pauls

I loved the character and the location was where I wanted to be. I stayed in the posh suite and used recommended ear plugs. (The bells). Staff great. Lounge available. Room pristine.
Response from Property: Thank you so much for your wonderful review! We're thrilled to hear that you loved the character of our establishment and found our location to be just where you wanted to be. It's fantastic to know that you enjoyed your stay in our posh suite and that the recommended earplugs helped ensure a peaceful night's sleep (those bells can be quite charming but sometimes a bit too enthusiastic!). We're delighted that our staff made a positive impression on you and that you found our lounge area enjoyable. Maintaining a pristine room is a top priority for us, so we're glad to hear that you found yours to be in excellent condition. We hope to welcome you back soon for another memorable stay! Warm regards, YHA London ST Pauls Team

On the plus side, the breakfast was filling and the location (for St Paul's) excellent. On the down sides, it has no members kitchen. Not even a kettle or microwave. After a days sightseeing, staff told us that they did not serve evening food (contrary to their own website). Only large groups get that offer. The hostel is incredibly noisy. Earplugs are essential. St Paul's bells are tolerable. The pubs nearby are loud. The rubbish is collected throughout the night. I think someone was cleaning the showers, gone 1am. The hostel feels tired and worn. Fitments in the bathrooms are broken. Windows I'll fitting. I've been to many hostels over the last 20 years. I've seen a lot better.
Response from Property: Hi WebbsRedditch, thanks for the review. We are sorry to hear that your stay wasn't positive! Regarding noise, we offer free earplugs at reception to avoid noise problems due to proximity to the cathedral. We hope to see you again in the future!! Have a lovely day! Found out the charger won’t work in my room on my checkin day. I spoke to the receptionist, and raised my insecurity about her suggestion to plug in one of the wall chargers which is further away from me. Then, we came up either an extendable charger or change of room. She was being super helpful, and I settled with change of room as the charger works. The room is decent for the price. There are common areas for you to sit, and it is a good space for you to do some works. Location is very good since it is right in the center. Security seems quite good cause the main door and your room, both require the issued key card to access. - I want to highlight the shower because the shower head is flexible and the water temperature is adjustable, and I was happy about that. But, the space is small. - Bed sheet & duvet cover look fresh and clean, the mattress is comfy, and duvet doesn’t seem too clean. It is pity that WIFI signal doesn’t cover the room but the common areas only.
Response from Property: Dear Lee, Thanks for your detailed review, we are glad that our staff were able to resolve your issue with the charger. We hope you enjoyed your stay in London! YHA London St Paul's Team

What a sweet place. My private room was perfect for budget accommodation and the building used to be choirboy rooms for the cathedral/school. The staff are really great. They seem happy and like a real team. They are warm and genuine and not over the top. Thank you to Wilder and Samuel for carrying my luggage. I had a heavy suitcase as I’m about to go abroad for 3 months and I was in the top bedroom and there is no lift (being a listed building). I wanted to leave a tip but was told I couldn’t do this on my card and had no cash I’m sorry. Late check out cost me £5 and was a lifesaver when I got in at 4am from a night out. St Paul’s and nearby Farringdon are a wonderful area of London. Also on Elizabeth Line so great for seeing London pre and post flying from Heathrow. Renting a towel and buying shower gel; snacks and water late at night was all fine. Hotel was clean, enjoyable, had character and was super quiet when I stayed on a Friday night. Thank you it was brilliant
