I booked this hotel for myself and my old school friend. Had to book a double room because there were no twins on offer at that time but when we arrived we were given a family room, so no problem at all. The room was basic but had tea/coffee making facilities (no biscuits though!), a huge mirror in the bathroom and a full-length mirror on the door to the room.
Plenty of eateries nearby from Chinese and Italian to Indian. We had a lovely Chinese meal at the Sichuan just across the road from the hotel.
The location of Travelodge Central, City Road, is perfect for getting around London. We found that Moorgate tube station was the easiest to get to and not far away further down City Road. From there we went to Television Centre (Wood Lane tube station) during the daytime and the Barbican Theatre in the evening, which is only a 10 minute walk away from the hotel.
I can recommend the breakfast. There was porridge, muesli, Weetabix, Cornflakes, Rice/Choco Krispies, fruit, yogurts. pancakes, toast, orange/apple juice, etc and also a hot breakfast consisting of bacon, sausages (Quorn ones too), scrambled eggs, tomatoes, baked beans, hash browns and mushrooms.
One negative was that there was some building works going on nearby which I could hear shortly after 7am - I was already awake so it didn't bother me, but I was surprised because I thought work could only start after 8am in the UK?
Staff on reception were friendly and helpful when asked how to get to places. I wouldn't hesitate to stay at this hotel again.
