It’s a shame as the location is good and the staff are friendly, but a good nights sleep is not on offer at this premier inn. While the beds are comfy and rooms are clean, this hotel doesn’t really cut it and I won’t be troubling them again. Visit one - I was in room 66 which clearly backs on to the rail way, so from 05.30 onwards it felt and sounded like the train was running through my room. I literally had no choice but to get up and get into work very early. On leaving I mentioned to the receptionist the problem and asked if on my return a week later I could be in a quieter room. In fairness on my return and checkin they refereed to my previous stay and indicated I had been given a quiet room 509… It was quiet and clean - perfect for my two night stay or so I thought. It was warm for London, so the air con was switched on only to find that it had been locked at 28 degrees. I spoke to reception who kindly unlocked this on their main BSM panel. However during the night I was woken by the extreme heat in the room on at least 3 occasions - each time I had checked, the temperature had risen to 28 degrees again. I dropped the temp manually and tried to return to sleep - this continued to happen, which led to both my wife and I being dehydrated by the morning. The next morning I spoke to the receptionist team, who advised that they would get maintenance to look at the problem. However on returning to the room in the early evening, I once again walked into a sauna. On this occasion I made a complaint, as the room was unbearable and we were moved to another room. But here’s the kicker, i was then told that someone (staff) had tampered with the air con control settings for the room and set the temperature to 28 degrees every 2 hours…. If at any time I had been rude to staff, I would have accepted a bit of pay back, but I hadn’t. Two visits - two awful nights sleep and one decent (after the room change) just isn’t good enough. But for staff to be screwing with paying customers by setting the heating to come on every 2hrs is unforgivable …. I doubt that premier inn will respond - but the complaints were made at the time - I am sure that staff member who tampered with the main air com unit will take pleasure that their action caused annoyance and an uncomfortable stay … But do you want to stay at a hotel, where at least one member of staff is that petty. If I could have registered a zero star - my advice is avoid this premier inn.
