When planning our trip to Puglia, we knew we wanted to stay part of the time in the Bari area and the other half in the Lecce area. With that being said we had to decide whether to base in a B&B in a city within the Valle d’Itria (consisting of the provinces of Bari, Taranto and Brindisi) or stay in the countryside. We decided on staying in one of the many small towns within the valley and chose to base in Locorotondo, which is located between Martina Franca and Alberobello. The B&B we chose was 1783 Dimora d’Epoca in Locorotondo. We made a great decision. The 1783 (how I will refer to the B&B throughout this review) is an absolute great place to base in the Valle d’Itria. Locorotondo is perfectly located to allow easy drives to towns like I Alberobello, Martina Franca, Cisternino, Ostuni, Polignano a Mare, and Monopoli, each of which are between 15-30 minutes away by car. The real treat is the 1783 itself, where we spent six wonderful nights. Nando and his daughter Chiara have built a beautiful B&B, and you realize it immediately when you enter the door. You’ll see an arched entry and walls leading into the living room where breakfast is served every morning (or you can sit outside) that is elegantly painted in white in combination with sand colored buff stone. A calming look. There are six individual guest rooms at the 1783. Once you enter your room you will be really impressed. Our room, (room 3, superior) was spotlessly clean, very well appointed including a 6-foot-wide king bed, sitting chairs, TV, Internet, espresso machine, air conditioning, a refrigerator (honor bar-like) and a gorgeous armoire that worked perfectly for us as well as a hefty safe. The bathroom includes a very large shower with a. cascade shower head, toilet and bidet. Bottom line: A clean, well-appointed room that is much larger than typical European standards. The six rooms are on the two floors above the living room and breakfast area. An elevator is available to transport luggage to your floor. In addition, the level below the main entrance is a beautiful spa area with a spa pool in a very elegant and romantic environment. Every morning, Rosanna puts together a wonderful breakfast buffet. You can enjoy eggs or an omelet from the grill...with prosciutto. In addition, there are a host of pastries, (i.e. cakes, croissants, cinnamon rolls) cheeses, salumi, prosciutto, coppa and breads galore. This combined with juices, yogurt, an assortment of cereals and fruit make for a wonderful way to start your day. Oh, almost forgot: Cappuccino too. I hope you’re getting the picture...this is a must stay place if you decide to base your visit in Locorotondo. There is no doubt in our mind that should we return to Puglia in the near future, the 1783 Dimora d’Epoca will be our choice. I hope it is for you too. Enjoy the warm family like staff and the wealth of information that Nando and Chiara can provide you to help make your time in Puglia a wonderf

The B&B was absolutely beautiful. It is a beautifully renovated very old mansion, and no expense has been spared in the process. The rooms and bathrooms are good sized with every amenity one could ask for. Chiara and her father, who are a brilliant tag team, are charming and incredibly helpful. Nothing is too much trouble for them to endure you have a wonderful detail and trouble-free experience in Puglia, whether it be arranging drivers/guides/suggesting places to visit/buying your bus tickets etc. And a special mention for Rosanna, who does a beautiful job with the simple but delicious breakfasts. I spent four nights there and would recommend it very highly.

Firstly, if you have ended up in Locorotondo, you have already done something right. If you are staying at 1783 Dimora D’epoca, you have done something extremely right. Staying at 1783, is a true gift. Every detail of the hotel has been carefully curated by owner, Chiara and her daughter. The level of detail does not go unnoticed. From the buttery linen sheets, to the organic, eco-friendly products, to the gorgeous terraces lined with colourful florals. As soon as you check in, you already wish you were staying longer. It is that special of a place. But the decor and details aren’t what make the hotel so incredible, it is the people. Chiara, the owner, was so welcoming and made our experience special by taking such kind interest in our trip - she immediately felt like a good friend. She was always available before we even had to ask! Assisting us with parking and of course, booking amazing dining experiences. We need not forget Rosanna, who was the cherry on top of an already perfect cake. Every morning Rosanna prepared us a breakfast that was worthy of a magazine shoot. Breakfasts with Rosanna were always the highlights of our days. We can now thank her for the little Italian we know!! Thank you Chiara & Rosanna. Be prepared to create truly special memories and moments here. We had come to Puglia for a wedding and left with having had one of the most special travel experiences of our lives at 1783. So much so that just a couple days later we were engaged!! We are already planning our next trip back. Lots of love, Amanda & Chris

This was our first visit to Locorotondo and the Dimora boutique hotel. My mom who lives in this picturesque historical town gifted my husband and I a weekend stay at this beautifully appointed hotel to celebrate our wedding anniversary. We were completely mesmerized by its elegance, serenity and enchanting appeal. Chiara, the owner is the epitome of a true hostess, welcoming us with her friendly demeanour and effervescent smile ensuring we were comfortable and taken care of each day. Her Team followed suit, Rossana, the Chef and Laura welcomed us with friendly smiles each morning. Their prompt breakfast service was always on point ensuring we had a most pleasurable morning experience, wanting our day to start off well. The buffet breakfast each morning was well appointed and always in keeping with tradition which we admired and appreciated using only local, fresh ingredients, all homemade! The passion, the dedication to the guest was clearly evident and the charisma and the attention to detail was seen throughout. Our days ended with a wonderfully relaxing dip in the spa, an inviting whirlpool built within a grotto followed by a signature aperitivo prepared by Rossana on the beautifully curated, sunlit terrace with typical Pugliese treats. Our room was exquisite and quiet with its inviting bed and spa like ensuite offering us a peaceful sleep and an invigorating awakening thanks to all the comforts at hand! Our stay couldnt have been more memorable thanks to the warm welcome of Chiara and her Team. This spectacular jewel in Locorotondo is a must, no stone has been left unturned. Her careful eye to detail and keen eye to the architecture is evident in every floor and corner. She has integrated this gem with great passion and pride always keeping within the integrity and tradition of her heritage and home of Locorotondo. Thank you Chiara for an amazing stay and your genuine hospitality. We cannot wait to visit again very soon! Rosina and Piero

My wife and I and another couple stayed three nights here in mid October 2022. We loved everything about Dimora D'epoca and we loved the small village of Locorotondo, which we felt was centrally located and had a lot of charm in the very charming province of Puglia. Both the proprietor and his daughter were gracious hosts, and the old establishment was lovingly restored with a keen attention to detail. We loved the rooftop area where we sat outside even in the fall weather and drank Salentino wine and admired the stone shingles across the rooftops of village below. The breakfasts were feasts and delicious, and the various small restaurants in Locorotondo were intimate, full of character and great simple food. We rented a car and drove all around the area and the Salento Peninsula without an issue (there is nearby parking to Dimora D'epoca. This amazing family run B & B was a gem, and I highly recommend this place and the region of Puglia to anyone who wants to experience a more quiet and genuinely rural part of Italy.

I stayed recently at this exquisitely designed B and B in the heart of beautiful Locorotondo, one of the most lovely places to visit in Puglia. The service was excellent. The rooms were super clean, the bed comfortable, the shower water pressure strong, the breakfasts delicious and it is literally in the heart of Locorotondo. Highly recommended!
