Stayed here for 3 nights on a Leger Battlefield tour. Didn't know what to expect after reading the differing reviews but I was pleasantly surprised. The bedroom was basic but clean. We didn't spend much time in the room but the beds were very comfortable and the shower was brilliant. Breakfast was typically continental but also with added scrambled eggs and bacon. There was something for everyone if you weren't the fussy type. We dined at the hotel and the steak in mushroom sauce was the best I'd ever had. Beer was reasonably priced at just under £5 for half a litre of Jupiler. The staff were very friendly and also very attentive. I would definitely stay here again 👌

Absolutely horrendous. Where do i begin? Firstly, rooms were riddled with mosquitoes and mould, which is a sever health and safety issue. Bed sheets were all stained, some looked like blood. Breakfast was tidied up and ran out very quick. But according to friends who woke up at a ridiculous hour in order to have it, they said it was horrible! They had no rules, as all night kids were running around and ding dong ditching us. To be honest, it completely ruined my trip. The bathrooms were as basic as basic can be. I understand this not a 5 star hotel, but a three star should have a working tv, clean bedsheets, rooms and bathrooms and at some toiletries at least soap (none of which we got). As well as this, towels should be included and there should be a 24hr reception which again there was not! We asked for the wifi (which it says it has) but there was no one around to ask or anything to tell us the password. I did not see one member of staff throughout my whole stay. Although not mentioned in the description, this is definitely a youth hostel! I am disappointed to say the least. STAY SOMEWHERE ELSE!

Absolute pain. Food was the last scraps of what the Belgian soldiers got around us in ww1. Bathrooms stink of a peculiar smell coming from the pipes. Tv was more grainy than corn flakes and the beds sank in like they were tryna give us a free ticket on a tour of the sinking house in Paris. Absolute g

Where do I begin the unhygienic double shower meat glancer and the double bed I am supposed sleep shoulder to shoulder with another man regardless of my sexuality brings me great shame. The food made me regurgitate and regret paying for this abysmal waste of time and money. If you want to come here bring something strong as the food is gruesome plastic that reminds of me of my father's speedos.

I recently organised a Classic Car Trip from the UK to Iper (Ypres), having stayed at this hotel previous we booked 10 rooms, only one couple had previously stayed there before. Everyone in the group thought the hotel, rooms, food and staff were excellent. The set meals were delicious and within our party there was two special dietary requirements which were catered for excellently, in fact the one person with a Gluten Free diet was amazed at the and commented that she had never had so good Gluten Free meals. The hotel is situated in a lovely area not only to explore World War 1 sites but lots more to offer. Special thanks to Lindsay for assistance in locating a local garage when our 73 year old car had problems We will be returning again and again

Stayed here for four nights in September 2024 on a Battlefield tour of the region. Breakfast was included and most of us dined in every night. The hotel staff - although often very busy (especially in the restaurant) - were friendly and extremely helpful; one could not fault them. The bedroom - whilst a tad sparsely furnished - was perfectly satisfactory and clean, as was the included bathroom. I had a very good night's sleep every night. The food - both breakfast and evening meal - could not be faulted. Breakfasts were basically Continental but with some small cooked options, and were perfectly satisfactory (and their hot drinks machine did a very nice coffee!). The evening meals - whether al la carte or fixed menu options - were well cooked and provided a good end to a busy day's travelling; the food options were well thought-out and pleasantly varied. The restaurant service in the evening could be a tad slow, but I guess the difficulties in obtaining enough good staff these days mitigated against having the waiter/waitress standing by one's table the whole time. The hotel is set in pleasant grounds, located in a small Belgian village. All in all an enjoyable experience, and I would be happy to stay here again should I visit the region again.

Stayed at this hotel whilst on a Ledger battlefield’s tour. First impressions are good and the downstairs is inviting, unfortunately when you get to the bedroom it all goes a bit downhill. Very basic and my room, in particular was like a sauna. They did supply a fan which helped but not much. The weather was very warm but it seemed to me that the heating was on too which didn’t help. The bathroom was even hotter although the shower was okay. Housekeeping wasn’t that good either, sweet wrappers and hair on the bathroom floor. I survived though!!! It was a shame really as the staff were very professional and helpful especially in the restaurant. We ate three of the four nights in the restaurant and didn’t have a bad meal, all excellent really as was the extensive breakfast. Downstairs excellent, upstairs poor!

Where should I begin. To start the bunkbed in my room was not sturdy, and to make it worse, had no ladder! Then we move on to the food, all I can say is that it was unfit for human consumption. The meat option was full on mystery meat, and the vegetarian option shockingly had little to no variety, providing a disgusting potato and vegetable cake sort of thing. Then the salad was full of gone off lettuce, as well as some dirt, and even a worm! This is all down to the fact that they do not wash their fruits or vegetables properly, or at all. The food was also bland, lacking any flavour. The plug socket in my room was unusable due to the fact that a metal nail had been jammed in, and the staff seemed to not care. This is a large hazard as me or my friends could have been electrocuted, and could not use a socket. The room itself was tiny, and the bathroom was even smaller! It was like being inside of a dollhouse. The shower had low water pressure and the hairdryer seemed to do nothing to dry my hair. The overall set up of the room was awkward and did not seem well designed. The mattress for the unstable bunkbeds were both rock solid, and felt like there was no mattress at all! The windows in the room did not open fully, and so we had to suffer with the hot summer weather, as there was not even an offer of a fan. The smoke detecter was in such an awkward place that even spraying deodorant was able to set off the alarm. I’m sad to say that in my room i found many bugs, and even used tissues behind my bed, which shows the poor housekeeping. This is most likely due to a lack of staff, as in my whole visit only two people were working! The wifi was also extremely hard to access, as the sheet at the front desk has an incorrect password, which led to confusion. The stairs up to the room were very narrow and steep, which proved to be a challenge when we were carrying our luggage, even leading to my friends and I falling both up and down the stairs. The vending machine in the poor excuse of a rec room was an utter scam! Me and my friend had given the machine an extortionate price of €3 just for one sprite, however we were met with no reaction, and the machine simply stopped working. This is utterly unacceptable. The locks on the doors were hard to lock, and the bathroom door had no lock at all! On top of all of this, the only good thing about this hotel is that the exterior is decent.
