There are very friendly hosts at this accommodation. We received a free room upgrade on arrival (The French Room). There was a mini fridge in the room which contained bottled water. The room facilities were good and included tea and coffee. The bathroom and bedroom were finished to a high standard and had character. The house has a lot of history and the host was open to discuss the historical details of both the house and its occupants alongside side how the restoration process happened. The continental breakfast in the morning was included, freshly prepared, and provided with lots of choices and because it was self-serve we didn't feel rushed. Fresh coffee on hand and the granola and yoghurt parfait was very tasty. Free parking is also available and close to the village where we had a nice meal at an Indian restaurant (Bengal Spices).

We had a very relaxed one night stay. Warm and friendly welcome. Comfy, light, airy room with en-suite. The local Dolphin Inn is worth walking to for a drink and/or food. Breakfast in the morning was plentiful with lots of hot and cold choices. We would gladly recommend and hope to visit again. Tip: the driveway is quite steep to start with.

Free parking, free WiFi and the ability to watch anything you want on TV. Owners were really nice and it surprisingly wasn't busy so we almost had the whole thing to ourself. The owners put in a lot of effort to wake up and make us breakfast in the early hours of the day. The room we had was the elephant room, it had a single bed and a double bed, both very comfy and we got a good night's sleep.

Very nice! My wife and I and our teenage daughter stayed in the Elephant Room. Room of a high standard and nicely furnished. Plenty of room. Comfortable beds. Nice views over the valley. Bathroom is not en-suite but across the hall - that did not bother us (bathrobes provided!) but just making others aware (even though the other two rooms were booked the night we stayed, we never encountered the other guests while crossing to our bathroom). Nice welcome from our hosts; very friendly and helpful. Can see that the property is a work in progress but the guest bedrooms have been prioritised while the owners work on the other areas of the house and property - will be a stunning property when finished. Enjoyable breakfast and plenty to eat. Would we stay again - of course!

We would Highly recommend staying at Penyovel Hall. Jamie is a great host and the room was very clean and comfortable with everything we needed. 5 minute walk to the village as well as a great place to walk from and explore canal or hills. Breakfast was very good and the views were amazing and in the summer to sit on the terrace would be just bliss! Oh and the dogs enjoyed it too!

I booked one nights’ stay at Penyvoel Hall as a treat for my friend’s 50th birthday. We hiked in the morning and arrived at the Hall at 3pm. We received a warm welcome from Jamie who carried our bags and showed us to our room. We stayed in the Elephant room which is beautifully decorated, it has a fridge with complimentary beers, tea, coffee, water and chocolate bars. We were surprised that our shower room was across the hallway rather than en-suite, this didn’t pose a real problem – I suppose we assumed that our bathroom would adjoin the room but it wasn’t a problem.  We sat out on the lawn for a while before we went into Llanymynech for our evening meal and played with the owners 3 dogs, it was a beautiful day and the view is stunning. Jamie introduced us to his wife Samantha prior to us going out who was pleasant and welcoming – we were advised that the couple were having a dinner party that evening and having guests stay over. We arrived back at the hall at 10pm having had a wonderful day and evening, we were tired having hiked so went straight to bed. There was a little noise coming from downstairs, but it wasn’t too much at that stage. I fell asleep but woke up at 1:30am to a lot of noise coming from downstairs, singing, shouting and banging. My friend told me that she hadn’t managed to sleep yet due to this. The noise really echoed throughout the house, possibly due to the wooden flooring and not having carpets to buffer any noise. The hosts must be aware of how the noise travels as they live there. I lay for a while trying to get back to sleep but the noise just got worse, I was annoyed as we had paid to stay and the reviews were brilliant which is why I booked to stay at property. Eventually I decided to get up and go downstairs to speak to the owners and ask them to quieten down. Knocking on the door to the room where they were situated brought no response.  I then had no option but to knock very loudly on the door so that they could hear me over the racket they were making. They were clearly all very drunk which I wouldn’t criticise anyone for – I am a party lover myself. However, to entertain friends in this manner when you have paying guests trying to sleep I felt was extremely rude & inconsiderate and I told Jamie this when he eventually came to the door and very patronisingly told me to ‘calm down’. I was so annoyed that I didn’t sleep for the rest of the night. The next morning we went down for breakfast. Jamie & Samantha did apologise, I did feel though that the apology wasn’t genuine, no eye contact was made and the apology I felt was made rather begrudgingly. I almost felt that I was in the wrong for complaining. There was a frosty atmosphere between us all. We told them that we had intended to visit Powis Castle that day but as we were so tired having had very little sleep we decided to just go home. Very disappointing as we had looked forward to our mini-break for weeks and it was a special treat for my friend. Upon our retur
