We have enjoyed meals here in the past, but this was the first time we have stayed at the hotel. We love the village and the beautiful, quiet, rural isolation of the surrounding area. We were able to go walking both days - we found a pleasant 2 hour walk from the hotel on our final morning which was perfect after breakfast and before we headed home. The room was well set up, comfortable bed, good linen, clean, with a view to the green hills behind the hotel from our bedroom window. We had a bath in our bathroom, nice toiletries and large, quality towels. Breakfast in the morning was a particular treat. One of the best marmalades I have had in this part of the world - made in house and very chunky; tasty scrambled eggs with a generous portion of smoked salmon; the full English was high quality too. We would be more than happy to stop by for the breakfast alone. All of this in a character building with friendly staff.
