Ordered 4 adult beef dinners and 2 child beef dinners..2 dinners arrived and waited 5 mins for next dinners only to see waiter take them off next table and said he’d given them to wrong people and was told don’t worry they hadn’t touched them 😔 adult dinner consisted of 2 slices of beef which was nice a Yorkshire pudding on top,1 carrot,1 roast potato,1 parsnip and a pile of what I think was undercooked kale.brought us 1 dish of cauliflower cheese which had to much I think was mustard in it but that dish was between 6 people where other people had a dish between 2..dinner cost us £96 and we left disappointed and still hungry wouldn’t return and wouldn’t recommend this place we have had much better dinners with more then 1 potato and less in price 😔

This has always been our go to eating place in Llandovery. Not any more sadly. What was a lovely, cozy pub/hotel lunch is now no better than an average fried food place. No maitre’d, although the other two staff were lovely. No bound menu just well worn laminated A4 sheets. Food was average. Salad garnish, peas and tartare sauce were lovely. Chips were ok but the fish (beer battered cod) was grey and not the freshest. Sorry to see what was a decent place go this far down hill.

In September 2024 I produced a theatre festival in Llandovery. As part of this I booked the ball room and breakfast room as rehearsal spaces and 8 rooms for actors B&B for a week. Throughout the process the staff at the castle hotel were nothing but welcoming and accommodating. No request was too much, however out of the ordinary, and always delivered with good humour and kindness, particularly from Gemma and Amanda. Special mention must be made to Susan who cooked and served breakfast for the actors each morning as well as get the breakfast room cleared and ready for our rehearsal space by 11am. This must have been a challenge, doing all of the above by herself, yet everything was delivered on time and to a high standard. How she manages to provide such excellent service while seemingly doing everything solo is beyond my comprehension. Give this lady a raise! Thank you Castle Hotel and its staff for your support on our event. Diolch!

Lovely hotel, bang in the centre of town, with plenty of free parking at the rear. Staff were excellent throughout - friendly and helpful. Was great to have a pint and a chat with manager Gerry, after I returned from the rugby, and Susan’s breakfast and service in the morning, was outstanding. Room was good, with refurbished bathroom, and was light and airy. Will definitely stay again when down that way. Thank you.

We booked and paid for a Superior Double Room, but on arrival we were given a "Comfort Twin Room".. obviously Downgraded for some unknown reason? Tried to ask to change rooms but were told all rooms fully booked. Room 14..... noisy water/pipe noises from 02.00am until 05.30am, plus generator noises intermittently inside room, impossible to sleep during these hours.... noted from previous guests that this is a chronic problem with this room. Visiting a dying relative in the region so really upset about this. Gave verbal feedback to hotel reception on departure, met with blank stare.... have emailed Castle Hotel direct for some sort of Refund (by the way not expecting the whole £225 paid but just some sort of acknowledgement that we had a crappy 2 night stay apart from Lovely Breakfasts both mornings)... Will not stay again.

Met with family for Sunday lunch. We got seated just before a very large party. So, the service was Ok, but we were disappointed by the seating. On the one side, it was a church pew for 3 people, I know it's trendy, but so uncomfortable as you literally have to perch to eat, not ideal for adults. Then the meal arrived. What we ate was fine, but, 1 carrot and 1 parsnip, a couple of green beans and a bit of kale each. (again trendy but no one really likes kale!). 2 people had pork, but there was no apple sauce to be seen. Definitely needed to have more veg available as literally it was all eaten in a matter of minutes. So definitely not worth the price..

Steak 🥩 was akin to frozen Monmouth meat from the ice age Abysmal would be a fair description sticky tables Avoid this place at all cost ! The best thing was the pint of Heineken. The rest was truly abysmal steak looked like a barren cow that had been cooked many days previously and then heated in the microwave Disgusting the worst I have ever ever had

Beautiful rooms, immaculately clean and of a good size. Breakfast was poor and we had to ask the young man for even the basics, spoons , teabags, plates etc…. He was really miserable and very put out that he had to restock the buffet bar. When we had finished our buffet breakfast ( cereal & toast) and was ready to leave he then decides to come over and offer us a cooked breakfast 😳 A little too late mate. Will not be back
