We tried ringing 7 times and left a voice message but never got a response. It was impossible to find a copy of the Sunday lunch menu anywhere, and wanted to make sure there were vegetarian options available. We decided to take a chance and go anyway as friends had told us the food here was lovely, and we hadn’t visited for many years. The staff were very friendly but it took 45 minutes for our meal to arrive. Sadly the only vegetarian option was Quorn sausages, which were just the normal ones I buy at the supermarket. The vegetables were cooked beautifully, very tasty and my husband thoroughly enjoyed his roast. Unfortunately we wouldn’t return just for the lack of vegetarian choice.

Wow what a find. It was a last minute weekend away with our dogs. Beautiful location, very peaceful and quiet. The pub and rooms were great. Very friendly and accommodating with our requests. Special mention to Emily who was amazing. Thank you

Had one of the very best meals shared with family who live in the village. Evidently they recently engaged a new chef who obviously has a passion and love for food. Simply lovely flavours and textures perfectly cooked. I had the salmon dish with an asparagus starter in wild garlic sauce and a almond tart desert. My family had the duck which was similar cooked to perfection. Over many years I have eaten at the Fox and never had a memorable meal, just the usual pub fare. This is a place to visit anytime, hopefully the chef stays.

Great Sunday Lunch at the Fox. Generous portion of meat - we chose the lamb and the pork. Delicious vegetables, roast potatoes, Yorkshires and gravy. Didn’t really have room for dessert but couldn’t resist and both the vanilla cheesecake and panacotta were fantastic. Really lovely sitting outside by the river. The chef Que really knows how to add flavour to every part of the meal.

My husband and I visited for Sunday lunch and all I can say was the food was absolutely amazing, definitely one of the best Sunday lunches I’ve ever had. There’s a warm and friendly atmosphere and the staff are lovely. I can’t wait to return and wouldn’t hesitate to recommend this place to anyone looking for somewhere to eat in.

Sunday lunch at the Fox & Hounds today prepared by Chef Matthew James was absolutely fantastic, deep fried Brie, followed by melt in the mouth pork belly, my husband and other members of our party had roast beef and the turkey breast which were both very tender, juicy and full of flavour. Meals were accompanied by huge serving of vegetables and cauliflower cheese, then for dessert yummy salted caramel cheesecake. Lovely ambiance and great service. Can't wait for our next visit.

Mixed feelings , very kind young man met us and let us check in early , lovely big room could hear the brook from our room which was great . The room is tired we were told new owners working on updating the place . Our bed was massive and very comfortable , I could feel springs in the mattress but slept fine . Continental breakfast on week days was lovely . Unfortunately the full Welsh fried breakfast was awful on the Saturday morning . I understand the new owner is trying to update the place but the tables in the restaurant area were sticky each morning our clothes stuck to the chairs and the plates had to be peeled off the table . The location of the pub was beautiful. Our little dog was made very welcome which really pleased me so top marks for that . We had 2 very different experiences with the staff on our arrival day the young lady was brilliant and the following morning too , nothing was too much trouble . But the next few day was a completely opposite experience with a different young lady . The place has a great feel to it , locals at the bar having food and a drink nice atmospheric in the evening . One last thing the heating in our room not sure why but it was off after we returned from a long cold day out to a cold room

To the manager thank you so much for bringing your staff out to glare at me and trying to be as intimidating as possible on Wednesday, where I was meeting friends for drink. Now let me first explain the word hospitality to you." The friendly and generous reception of guests visitors or strangers". Let me respond to your comments, why did I not complain on the night, We are not that sort to kick off in a pub we were out for meal, my wife does not like confrontation, my work does not allow me to put myself in those positions. Why did I leave a tip I, I felt sorry for the staff having to serve the rubbish and put up with many complaints. Now my friends did tell you after I left that, the food you serve is rubbish, that is why we as locals don't eat there. We want to support local pubs, so we try your food, it's rubbish we leave it a few month's hoping it gets better. Then try again. Read the reviews and take it on board , do something about it not abuse your clientele. You response of I have run a few pubs and the presentation was standard, I have eaten in hundreds and your presentation is standard ...very very sub standard. As for my title of the review being dramatic your right as I left out the word rocky. Any manager worth their salary would have spoken to me quietly offered an apology, tried to appease the situation. But not you just line the staff up behind the bar as a sign of defiance including the school cook. And glare and make sarcastic comments. From the entire staff behaviour I can only assume you have an agenda to run what was a fine dining experience in other hands into the ground.
