Ampuria Inn

Only stayed one night at this hotel on way from U.K. to Spain but don’t think it deserves some of poor reviews it has. Yes it is dated and basic but it is clean and friendly! We had an upgrade free of charge to a room with large terrace as we have a small dog. Breakfast was good value with a good selection… even smoked salmon!

At first sight, the hotel is not as plush looking in reality when compared with the photos! The hotel is on the outskirts of Empuriabrava and has a strong Oriental feel to its decor and ambience. Our room was very spartan and in need of an update as it felt very 70's/80's with cheap wood furniture and fittings. The public areas also looked tired but everything was clean. The staff were very pleasant and helpful though and provided a welcome brightness to the place although they seemed hard worked as the receptionist seemed to double as the bar-tender....you get the feeling that costs are being cut to increase profit margins. That said, the hotel is well-priced for the area and so, if you want cheap accommodation and are only staying for a few days, Ampuria Inn has its place.

This hotel says it is animal friendly, well it is, we were accompanied by our beloved working cocker spaniel Coco, she was welcomed with a smile and lots of cuddles. This hotel addressed what had been a very negative experience in an Italian hotel and restores our faith in hotel stays.( more to do with our experience) The hotel has a very welcoming arrival impression which continued into the reception area, with friendly reception staff, who answered questions and made recommendations to make our stay a welcome experience. The room was clean, and had Clim supported by a device which cleaned the air, and was removed by friendly service staff, who reflected the overall positive experience. There were sufficient parking facilities for all guests, and appropriate security provided with movement detecting lighting. With one free drink token and additional paid drinks, we had a very pleasant entertaining evening watching friendly visitors enjoying the pool table. Whilst as the hotel information advises, the hotel is about 2 km’s from the seafront, the hotel facilities well made up for the lack of sea front location. The sauna, pool and jacuzzi facilities appeared well maintained and clean, with some facilities chargeable as extras, the pool appeared very inviting, although I will remember to bring a costume with me on my next visit. Thé breakfast provided a wide variation of choice with regular refills and delicious choices. Staff were all pleasant and professional greeting with a smile. My wife and l both agrée this review and will not have any doubt in recommending this hotel, and look forward to our next visit. As a final comment, the hotel offers a value for money experience, we are not associated in any way with this hotel and would recommend a visit. We are reluctant to sing the praises too much as we want to visit in the near future.

Parking great, pool ok, breakfast good, price ok. But this Hotel should definitely be renewed. It seemed to be back in the 80s again. The interiors are old, quite chaotic and have a horrible style. Ok for one or max. two nights.

My own fault as it was a last minute booking. Needed a bed for the night on a long drive down to Spain. Rang and was told they only had an apartment for euro 160 a night. At that price I assumed it would be good. It was dreadful. Clean but very shabby and run down. It felt like it was the place the staff stay. There is no food at all at night. All we could get was a cheese toasties at the pool bar and that shuts at night. Do your self a favor and keep driving south.

Ampuria Inn is a fantastic place to stay. Room is basic but very clean, and has air conditioning and a fridge. The highlight is George, our amigo and bartender at the pool serving us some great piña coladas, always a friendly smile and service. Pool is never too busy even at the weekends.
