What a fantastic Zambian welcome at Protea Marriot Hotel. From the lovely Ireen and Natasha at reception who were warm and interested in our adventures each day, to our spotless room cleaned by Forstina to great conversations and service from David, Raymond and Everisto to the plentiful and tasty cuisine provided by a team of excellent chefs …. I could go on and on - just wonderful service from every member of staff we came across!! Best 3 night break in a long time ; wonderful decor and ambience and world class service - you will be more than satisfied if you pick this hotel 10/10 and Zikomo

Booked 6 apartments with upfront payments to find that there is no electricity at the apartment, the generator is only on for 3 hours in 24 hours. holiday from hell would not recommend. We struggled in the heat and darkness and there was no support at the apartment. We would like a refund to move to an alternative location

This review relates only to the restaurant, which is probably the nicest in Livingstone. A lovely atmosphere, good food and charming, professional service. My one gripe is the walking distance from the car park to reception; at the very least the hotel should have some allocated 'disabled' spaces by the entrance.

WE had an unexpected overnight stay in this luxury hotel courtesy of Kenya Airways as our flight was overbooked. The meals were excellent but the service was very slow. The air conditioning in our room did not work but we were supplied with a fan. The pool and surroundings are lovely and the staff were delightful, though some of the waiting staff did not seem to understand English. Finding somewhere cool in the hotel was difficult as it was exceptionally hot but I found refuge in Reception where there was a through flow of air.

Review of Protea Livingstone, Zambia We stayed at the Protea Livingstone while attending a wedding, and overall, the staff was outstanding—accommodating, thoughtful, and incredibly helpful. The hotel is clean and well-maintained, with spotless rooms and immaculate public areas. However, a major issue was the air conditioning. It only runs for 18 hours a day, and the schedule varies daily. The AC was weak, keeping the room at an uncomfortable 80 degrees at best. Worse, it shuts off between 8am and 4pm, making it particularly challenging to get ready for the wedding. Given the extreme heat (over 100°F during our stay), I would have chosen a different hotel had I known this in advance. As a loyal Marriott customer, this was disappointing, and I would recommend considering other options if reliable 24-hour AC is a priority for your stay.

I brought two groups of friends this summer and the staff was great! Alex, a manager, did an excellent job taking care of all our needs. The breakfast is very delicious and the location is wonderful. We did have mosquitos in some of our rooms but they sprayed and brought us mosquito nets.

I had an OK stay here. Livingstone was lovely and relaxed. Hotel staff was kind and helpful. Only issue with the activity desk with their sort of aggressive payment requirements. Once I was late for the Botswana Chobe day tour (they had told me it started at 8, when it really started at 7) so I could not pay that morning and then they hounded me to pay in Botswana (at an inflated exchange rate) instead of waiting for my return to pay in USD which I had readily available in my room. That left quite a sour taste in my mouth.
