Purple Orchid Resort & Spa

We selected the hotel as it was a half way point for us. The grounds and landscaping are beautiful. The massage was great! The pool and hot tubs were not clean. There was actually plastic in the hot tub (I could understand leaves, due to the wind) and I saw a glass floating in the pool. Also the hot tub was supposed to be heated until 10pm, it went off at 9 - probably due to recent time change, however they also said we could text them anytime. I sent a text and no one ever responded. The happy hour was very nice, and the breakfast was awesome! Staff very friendly. We will definitely consider going back.

Pleasantly surprised and blown away! This is cute B&B in Livermore, close to wineries, breathtaking views and well kept grounds. I am generally not a huge fan of B&B, but my husband booked a weekend for us to get away without kids. We were both surprised about how much we enjoyed our stay. Derek the owner was friendly, generous and made us feel welcome from the start. You can tell that the staff genuinely enjoy working there. Everyone was friendly, smiles and courteous. The room was clean, clearly updated and the bed was SO SO COMFORTABLE. Their breakfast was great, and we were able to enjoy it at poolside in the mornings. Despite being close to home, we definitely will be back for a little staycation. This place went above and what we expected. Thank you so much Purple Orchid for making our weekend amazing.

This was my second time staying at The Purple Orchid and it still did not disappoint. Both times were for work but it didn't even feel like it! Derek and Rhiannon (owners) were amazing in planning meals, rooms and meeting space details! We had a lot of changes leading up to the week and they still accommodated! We left there all feeling refreshed and motivated even after all day meetings! Next time we go we will definitely do the private chef dinner outside that was recommended to us. Thanks for taking care of all 12 of us! See you next year!

This review is based solely on a private celebration we had scheduled in the orchard at Purple Orchid. I have been a client at their spa for 6 years now. I really enjoy their spa services and have nothing bad to say about their spa. However, their event coordination is terrible. In May, we had a private event booked, and Taylor was the coordinator. Not only did she make multiple false promises, she was highly unhospitable on the day of the event. Me and my guests felt a lot of hostility from her and the attitude she gave us. First, when we arrived, a lot of things were not set up yet. Second, she quoted (AND WE PAID) for 3 servers, we barely got one. And I say barely because that server was going to walk away after setting up the food and we asked her if she was going to stay, and she seemed so confused. She did end up staying and helped serve food, but I am sure she was not informed to do so. On top of that, it was 100+ degrees and we did not have umbrellas. My aunt, who booked the celebration, sent Taylor three separate emails about the weather and the set up in the week leading up to the event, to which Taylor did not respond. On the day of, my aunt asked Taylor again about umbrellas for shade. There were 10+ umbrellas in the pool area, and about 5 of them were not being used. She was adamant that we could not use those because they were for guests. She had a very nasty attitude and very demeaning body language. We are also guests, and paying customers, we did not have this event for free. In fact, the event was quite expensive. I would not recommend having any celebration here, especially if Taylor is your coordinator. I hope she learns some hospitality, and to also be transparent and honest to guests instead of upcharging for subpar services. Now, I feel awkward going to their spa after being treated this way at our celebration. It really ruined my experience here.

My husband and I stayed there the weekend of April 14th and April 15th at the recommendation of a classmate, coming in for a High School Reunion, and wanting the peaceful relaxing atmosphere it boasts having. Driving the nine (9) hours from California, we were looking forward to possibly relaxing by the pool, since there was going to be warm weather. We came back from dinner Friday night to VERY LOUD music coming out of their event center, which our room was next to. The front desk clerk said, “Oh, they are practicing for their event Saturday. The event Saturday was AN EIGHT (8) HOUR CHRISTIAN MASS, with VERY, VERY loud music. Again, with our room next door, complaints sent to the front desk were ignored. We were told by the people at the front desk (Derek the owner and Edith, a Front Desk worker) and the people running the event: (a) it was our fault we booked that room, (b) they had as much right to be there as we did—and even more, (c) that they would move us to a [smaller] room away from the event for free {to basically shut us up}, (d) they would comp us 50% that night {to stop the complaining}, and (e) that perhaps this type of hotel wasn’t the place for us. Banging on the wall didn’t help—they even turned the music up. And the Purple Orchid just smirked, not caring about their guests’ happiness, just about this event, that’s after Derek LIED to my husband’s face, telling him he didn’t know there was going to be music. So, why didn’t you tell them to keep it down after we complained the first time? Yea, don’t bother staying here if you want your feeling taken into consideration.

We came upon the Purple Orchid while researching places to stay while in town for a birthday celebration/girls weekend; so glad we chose it! The property was beautiful and serene. The weather was just right for some pool-side relaxation . My companion utilized the spa services and was very pleased with her experience. I’ve see other reviews saying it’s far away from restaurants etc. but we found the location close enough (less than a 15 minute Lyft ride) but far enough away to have a well rounded experience. We will certainly return!
