The Swan - A Colombo Edition Hotel

Honest review ! To be honest the people who run this pub are lovely, they couldn’t do enough to accommodate us. We were a large party of 24 boaters staying for the weekend. They kindly reserved the pub moorings for us, and were very accommodating. However there was a few blips on the Saturday night when we had pre booked our meals, they didn’t come out at the same time, and was a long gap in between serving, a few meals got sent back as they were burnt. But the overall experience was good over the whole weekend. The young bar tender looked after us and played some music in the bar for us at our request, we had a great time ! Overall this is a lovely pub with great staff The only thing that let the pub down was the moorings if the brewery spent some money on the moorings and gave it a quick lick of pant or world be brilliant . Would I go back and have a meal ? - You bet it’s a nice pub with great views of the river, and great staff se you soon !

Food disgusting, ordered pie it was burnt, dried out with no filling, mash had been rolled into a ball by hands, complete with fingerprints 🤢 service slow no cutlery was offered had to get it yourself off another table. What a dump Not at all like the website advertised

We chanced on this pub whilst driving through. The room was clean, the welcome pleasing and the accommodation comfortable. From the outside it looks a little down at heel. But our room was spacious had everything a Premier Inn offers , and had a fine balcony with a lovely river view. We did not eat in the pub, but it was more than suitable for a summer drink by the river. No breakfast offer but not a problem for us. All for £69.00.

Had liunch, really nice food in conservatory overlooking the river. Had curry, fish and chips and beanburger. The curry in particular was excellent. Could not fault, staff were friendly.

WHAT A LET DOWN - I booked here for two nights as I was working locally. It looked horrendous when I pulled up but thought, it’s two days, it’s not permanent. Food was so horrible that the second night I ate out! Second night the fire alarm went off at 4am. All guests evacuated themselves. We waited, no one turned up, no one came to do a fire check or make sure it was on to enter the building - no fire brigade no nothing! Upon informing management that my second night was horrendous as no one could go back to sleep, they just said “oh well sorry” blamed another guest for smoking in their room and so I asked for the full fire report of the incident and have been ignored since! Sounds like a lame excuse to get out of providing a refund for poor sleep as that is what you expect when you book a hotel! Would avoid this place like the plague!

Stayed here for 1 night on business . Firstly the hotel/pub is located on the edge of the river with all 6 rooms overlooking the river bank ..the train track also runs at the rear of the hotel . The place is in desperate need of a make over and I'm sorry that at £120 without food if you are looking for place to stay keep driving past this place . The rooms are tatty and in need of some overall TLC but more importantly the standard of cleanliness in the room wasn't good enough ...please see photos..carpets were dirty walls all marked, skirting and general appearance around the bathroom /shower area was poor .rotten skirting and the cherry on the cake was the bed- the headboard has a clear horizontal line across it and various stains present and the lower half of the bed frame has a large stain . On a positive note the food and service was actually quite good however the pub doesn't do breakfast but recommend a nearby cafe which opened at 10.00am! I was on the road heading for Starbucks at 6am
