We went as a family of 11 persons and booked 5 suites. Being nosey, we all inspected each of the five suites. Each suite was completely individual and all were very tastefully decorated. We all agreed that the suites were beautiful. and well appointed with the usual items one would expect to find in such rooms. The public areas are all tastefully decorated and wherever possible, period features have been retained. The WiFi is reasonably fast in all areas including the bedrooms. The lounge has a number of games including Solitaire, Bagatelle, Table skittles, Noughts & Crosses and dominos. Seating is arranged in such a manner that groups can be sub-divided from Couples. A very pleasant small bar area is adjacent with a wide variety of drinks available. There are two Dining areas plus a private Dining room. Tables are spaced in such a manner to accommodate groups and couple at sufficient distances to not encroach on each other's space. We booked on a Dinner bed and breakfast basis from Saturday through to Monday, so our stay took in two breakfasts and two dinners. Both breakfast were superb with a wide variety of choices ranging from Continental to full English with plenty of choices in between. There are no supplements incurred. Both Dinners were equally good, with supplements for speciality dishes. It is gratifying to note that request to add or omit items or have items cooked in a slightly different manner all all taken in the stride4 of the Servers and kitten staff. On the subject of the Staff, Horsted Place seems to have a Policy of 'Nothing is too much trouble'. Whatever or whenever you request something, the Staff seem capable of handling your request and when I asked at Front Desk, if I could order a round of drinks for the lounge area, the receptionist said " No problem' I'll bring them to you straight away'. Without exception , all Staff members were attentive, knowledgeable and courteous. However, one staff member stood head and shoulders above the rest and that was Samantha or Sam as we called her. She can easily be in 6 places at a time and is always on hand and never seems to sleep. She is a Superstar. By way of comment, not critcism,I submit a few thoughts:- The small lift is antiquated, slow and quirky but in keeping with this historic building. A small Fridge in the rooms would be a bonus with perhaps a couple of complimentary bottles of water, beer, Coke (Full fat & diet) plus an Orange juice and apple juice. On arrival, all of our rooms were very warm and rather hot overnight. For an extra cost, I would have been happy to have a mobile air Conditioner brought to the room(s). As I own an Air conditioning Company ( Airtech ,East Grinstead), I thought about different ways of Air Conditioning various bedrooms and Public areas, but all ideas were very expensive or highly complicated and Horsted Place is probably a listed building anyway which would further complicate matters ! Overall, a most enjoyable stay and we shall be

We have just returned from a relaxing one night break to celebrate our wedding anniversary at this lovely hotel. Having read previous reviews regarding the fairly recent refurbishment of this hotel and seen photos pre-refurbishment, we were really impressed with the hotel’s appearance. We personally liked the light and airy feel of the hotel with its contemporary mix with the period features. In the past we have stayed at country hotels that feel cluttered and museum like but we loved the feel of this hotel. The atmosphere was welcoming and the staff friendly and helpful. We stayed in the Snowdon Suite which was perfect and our only disappointment was that we couldn’t stay longer. The evening meal was good and the Horsted Breakfast fantastic. Great quality sausages and bacon and cooked perfectly. Unfortunately we didn’t have time to sample the facilities at the nearby health club which were included in the stay but enjoyed a walk in the grounds around the golf course. Would definitely recommend this hotel and hope to be able to return.

I was invited to celebrate a 70th birthday at lunch one Saturday in April. Whoa - what a fabulous lunch! There was some seriously good cooking here from a kitchen that clearly knows what they are doing. Each course was beautifully presented, super tasty and just the perfect tasty spring lunch. Staff were smiley and friendly and the restaurant itself was beautiful. They just need to find a gardener as good as the chef now.

We had a one night stay which had been rearranged because of bad weather and the staff were extremely helpful in changing the booking. We had decided to treat ourselves to the Windsor Suite and it was superb! Beautiful views of the grounds from the windows, a massive bed and loads of space. We loved the relaxing feel of the lounge, with a log fire keeping us nice and warm nice relaxing music playing in the background added to the ambience. We ate in the restaurant and the food was good. I had a bit of an issue with the duck breast though. It was the most expensive item on the menu but the fat hadn’t been rendered down and the skin was soft and soggy rather than crispy as it should have been. I brought it to the waiters attention and he made the chef aware and came back and said that it would be taken off of the bill. These things happen but it was good that it was dealt with extremely efficiently and satisfactorily. All of the staff were polite, friendly, efficient and attentive - nothing was too much trouble. I wouldn’t say it was a cheap stay and the wine list was a little limited with only 3 types of red or white that was sold by the glass and the wine we liked was only by the bottle and, although it was lovely, it was rather pricey. I guess that is the way of things nowadays. Would have been good to have had a little more choice by the glass though! Breakfast was good and once again the staff were efficient and friendly. All in all a lovely night away from the stresses of life!

If you’re an opera lover, Glyndebourne will be known to you. What isn’t as well known is that after such sublime art, the idea of getting on an overlay 10pm train back to London - with all the undesirable activity that implies - is extremely unappealing. You want instead to find a local place of peace, tranquility and not a little grandeur to lay your head for the night. After all, Glyndebourne is a formal festival at which most attendees still wear Black Tie. This is why I visited, with clients, Horsted Place Hotel. Somewhere nearby that was only 10-15 mins drive from the opera house. It has a gentility and soft but defiant luxury to it. Like an old, penniless Countess who despite only possessing old jewellery and shoes, can still rustle up a daring, modern outfit. The bones are good. An 1850 Manor House, Tudor Revival, with, in most cases, a sensitively updated interior. Rooms are themed according to the famous visitors of the house and surrounding countryside. Worth noting that Queen Elizabeth II and DoE visited in the 1960s when their friends bought the house. Given the age and social stature of the house, the rooms are very large and comfortable, with views over the countryside surrounding it. As it is down a long driveway, you hear nothing of any major roads around. Reception is a little strange, as it is just a small desk in the hallway as you enter, but it’s difficult to see where else to put it. Aside from check in and check out we had little need for staff help, but it was adequate and friendly. It’s not too chintzy here, which can always be a worry for some people about luxury country house hotels in the UK at this price point. It has been recently redecorated and tastefully so. Yes, it’s a little more outdated than, Beaverbrook or Estelle Manor, but then you’re not paying those prices. No dinner was had, but breakfast was good. The only issue was no Uber driver would come down the driveway. The hotel helped when the Uber driver cancelled, enabling us to get a replacement vehicle from a local taxi company.

We have just spent a couple of days at Horsted Place Hotel as a birthday treat. What a wonderful building with so much history! The building has been tastefully restored to its finest Manor House decor. All the staff are very pleasant and helpful. Particularly the waiters/ waitresses and reception staff. We were staying via a secret escapes deal and did not find any issues about the food menu which has been mentioned on some other reviews. We found the choice of food excellent and the quality of the cooking and preparation exceptional. There is an option to pay a small amount extra to have a wider choice. We stayed in one of the superior suites which was very large, clean and the bed wonderfully comfortable and spacious. - probably the most comfortable bed we have slept in any hotel. We look forward to returning again in the future.

My wife and I visited for a short break. The hotel is beautiful, in beautiful grounds. The suite in which we stayed was really well appointed and especially comfortable. The traditional breakfast was hearty and satisfying. The dinner was excellent, from a fine menu. The staff were friendly, properly attentive and friendly. Well worth a visit.
