On paper it looks and sounds amazing, with old chateau style main building, spa and pool. In reality it is a confusing mish mash of grand old building, which is no longer in use and being left to decay, and new golf resort wing which has been badly designed and built maybe in the early 2000’s. Which doesn’t add anything to grandeur of the old part. All the facilities are located in the new wing, including restaurant and bar. With the exception of the outdoor pool, which is a long walk and had no facilities near by. The restaurant was very disappointing with very limited menu on both nights that we stayed. It seems they may be running things down to close soon?? Mojitos in Bacardi glasses but not using Bacardi rum. The last straw in the building so had to cut it in half so we could each have one! No vegetarian options on the menu at all and when asked, the chef did prepare one ,but it only consisted of a mixture of the side vegetables used in other dishes and charged at full price! Our room was ok, with a terrace overlooking the golf course and working AC. Very quiet which considering the size of the hotel and time of year is surprising. But this goes for the whole of Margaux. As a world famous wine region producing very expensive wines you would have thought the place would be heaving and busy with Porsche and Mercedes drivers everywhere as is the case in Cognac. But not so. Maybe there’s no where decent to eat or to stay? This hotel isn’t particularly cheap and not particularly good. But could be amazing.

The location was right off the Chateaux route, next to Pichon Baron. Everything was renovated in the room and bathroom, so it was clean and very comfortable stay. It was nice to have a drink and snack in the patio/garden area. There is a small pool which was not open when we were there. There is a bike shed that we stored our ebikes in. Take the dinner there because Pascale is an excellent cook! She and her husband are welcoming and very helpful. Thank you for sharing your home and life with us. Take care.

A week in the Medoc, and we could not have stayed at a nicer place. Although (sadly) the Michelin-starred restaurant is closed (a covid casualty), everything else was great. Loved my room with a small interior patio, perfect for coffee and working outdoors. Room service was very prompt, whether coffee in the morning or an afternoon apertif. Staff could not have been more helpful. They made restaurant suggestions before we arrived. They knew which chateau tours we had booked in advance and when, and then assisted in filling out the schedule. And then they arranged our pre-departure covid testing a short drive away. Everything was flawless. Well done!

We recently stayed in this hotel and were impressed by the quality of the renovation. The rooms are modern, well maintained and clean without makeup. The staff is extraordinarily friendly and helpful, which has made our stay very pleasant. The rooms are quiet, located outside the street, and some even have a small terrace, which is a real plus. The hotel owner is also very guest friendly and makes guests feel welcome. We can recommend this hotel the warmest for a comfortable and pleasant stay!
