Verride Palácio Santa Catarina

Baixa Lisbon|0.62km from What the hell?
We are so glad we chose to stay here - everything was wonderful and we felt well taken care of. The hotel is beautiful and centrally located - we were able to walk to many attractions and the neighborhood was fun to explore. The staff's attention to detail and pride in the hotel was evident - from reception, to the restaurant to housekeeping - everyone was friendly and professional. We felt taken care of and welcomed by everyone we encountered. Just after booking, we read some negative reviews about the Bica rooms that made us nervous enough to wonder if we should upgrade. After seeing our room in person (Bica 7), we felt much better, and by the end of our stay, we knew we would be happy to stay in that room again. The Bica rooms are not 'in the basement' as some other reviews have stated. While they are on floors below main reception, keep in mind that the hotel is on a steep hill and these rooms look out over the downward slope. Our floor to ceiling windows were still above street level, and we were afforded a beautiful view of the pedestrianized old town streets below. Yes, there are some buildings across the streets with windows that face the hotel, but we never felt a lack of privacy - for one, the room had sun shade blinds on all windows that diffused the bright Portuguese sunlight, but they also provided privacy from anyone who might happen to look into our room from the windows across the street (they didn't). It is something anyone who has lived in a city would be familiar and comfortable with. We heard street noise only when the garbage was being collected, and the windows provided enough soundproofing to ensure that noise was very light and brief. Our room was very spacious, and even with the sun shades down, there was plenty of natural light and it felt airy and gracious. The AC kept the room comfortable, and we were happy to spend the hottest hours of each day relaxing in the room. The bed was huge (and one of the most comfortable hotel beds I've slept in). The bathroom is small, but beautifully designed. The shower water pressure was glorious and we appreciated the Aesop toiletries. The hotel was currently doing renovations on our floor, but you would never know it. There were a few discreet renovation notices on doors and we saw some workmen during the day, but the sound was well insulated behind multiple doors and we were never disturbed. The privacy was actually remarkable - even though the hotel was fully booked during our stay, it was never noisy and we never felt crowded. We saw other guests occasionally, but it never felt like we were competing for space in the common areas or for the staff's attention. We enjoyed lunch and cocktails at the rooftop bar every day (I do not drink and appreciated the no-alcohol cocktail options), and our visit to Suba on the last night was nothing short of exceptional. I encourage you to make dinner here a part of your stay, you will not regret it. The nightly turn down service was such a

Raw Culture Art & Lofts Bairro Alto

Baixa Lisbon|1km from What the hell?
It started out rocky as the pickup we booked via hotel was 30 min late to get us at the airport. However the rest of our stay was still so good that I am willing to give it five stars. Room - huge lofts with kitchen and king bed and 3 half baths. No tub but shower was nice and strong. Concrete floor was great as we visited Lisbon in 100 degree weather. The robe and slipper provided were high quality as was the large bath towels. It was a nice touch to get a free liter of water and a small wine as a welcome Breakfast - included with our stay is awesome. Freshly made to order as this place only has 12 lofts. We got scrabbled eggs every day that came with these tomatoes and sliced ham that was simply delicious. Location - is in the midst of bars and restaurants. Many good places nearby. Thankfully with double pane windows, it was pretty quiet for us to sleep even though many party late in the night outside. Only inconvenience is Uber or bolt cannot pick up at door as its in an alleyway. Need to walk 100ft to Main Street to get a Uber or bolt. Bed - roomy and comfortable. They do put two twin together with a big cushion on top but it was very nice bed. Staff - super friendly and helpful. Maria checked us in and was very nice and Philip gave us free welcome drinks and showed us to a restaurant right outside he liked. We liked it too and had a nice dinner for only 30 euros of sardines and grilled sea bream. Yum. I would definitely book again.

Definitely worth the money! Although the studio is not located in the city center, you can easily reach most of the famous sightseeing either by foot or by public transport or Bolt/Uber/taxi. The service is great, and the facilities are amazing! There is a museum close by which is about puppets, and I enjoyed it a lot. There is also a small restaurant nearby called El rey d Carlos, if you stay here please do try the octopus rice (which is only €9) and the dessert there, you won't regret it!

I made the reservation for Booking.com and in the ad notice it is that the room I rented, there are stairs, is at the 3rd floor, has suffered rising as much bag we were, I think it is important that this information is in all ad rooms I do on the platform There is only information in “accessibility that there is stairs” but there is no information of the room you will rent, because there are rooms in the ground, which will not need this information, but from the rooms of the 1st floor, All travelers have bags and very bad to climb up the stairs carrying bags.

Great spot with very friendly staff. No A/C but it was nice that we had a room with a balcony as there were only 2 or 3 of these rooms.

The staff here are the friendliest EVER, making the experience absolutely wonderful, a home a away from home. The rooms are spacious and beautifully decorated, the buffet breakfast is fresh and plentiful and Casa do Bairro is in a wonderful area of Lisbon with many restaurants in the area without being too close & loud. A highly recommendable place to stay and I will gladly go back!

Beautiful place, one of the nicest looking hospits ever. Location was perfect. The service in the reception was really nice, Even though they got our booking wrong and we had to get rooms away from our children (Whom we booked the rooms with). The food in the restaurant was nice, the coffie not, and unfortunally the service there was not like the rest of the house. Also 3 Euros for a coffie without taste is not a good price in a hospits. Lots of lovely travellers and things happening throughout the day. There was Dj and parties till 2 in the morning so bring earplugs. No aircondition in the rooms made it impossible to close the Windows. Still, if you are a young traveller, this will feel like luxury compated to other hospits.

54 Santa Catarina Excellent customer service is always easily identified by the degree to which a business goes beyond expectation. This is especially true for hotels and other businesses which provide lodging. A clean bed, functional utilities, convenient location, and competent staff are for me the bare minimum. I require just a little bit more to be impressed, and I am happy to say that 54 Santa Catarina delivered in spades! The staff are absolutely worth their weight in gold. There were a total of three women, I think, who managed the hotel, and my wife and I had the pleasure of meeting and working with two: Patricia and Anna. Patricia greeted us upon our arrival and walked us through the lay of the land. She made sure we were able to orient ourselves correctly (neither my wife nor I had ever visited before) according to the maps provided before she turned us loose onto the city. She was also always available to us within 5 minutes of any communication sent via WhatsApp on a wide variety of issues including electrical power, currency exchange, restaurants, and public transportation. Anna was just as helpful. I'd spilled some food onto the floor of my unit, and when I told Anna about my mistake she sprung into action and located cleaning products for me. She and I also had an opportunity to discuss our love of martial arts and national French fry battles while I rested in the lobby after a particularly challenging walk up Lisbon's sloped streets. The facilities feature everything that you need for a comfortable visit including complementary laundry and a full kitchen. Whenever my wife and I decide to visit Lisbon again, 54 Santa Catarina will be first on our list of places to stay! 54 Santa Catarina
