VIP Executive Zurique Hotel

Baixa Lisbon|2.61km from Museu do CNE (Corpo Nacional de Escutas-Escutismo Católico Português)
My recent stay at the VIP Executive Zurique Hotel was acceptable. This hotel has so much potential, and some more attention in a few areas would go a long way in transforming this property to one of a higher quality. The service was excellent. Employees were all compassionate and professional. In addition, the food offered in the hotel’s restaurant was of high quality. Prices at the property were fair. From a value point of view, I expected a bit more. I paid €439 for my eight-day stay. In addition, dinner was expensive and extremely limited. More specifically, in terms of amenities, the hotel boasts a beautiful outdoor pool area. Unfortunately, it was often overcrowded and littered with garbage. More attention to detail would remedy these issues. Wifi was available, but weak in certain parts of the hotel. A bar is located in the lobby, but opens late and closes early in the evening, making it inaccessible. The gym was closed during my time here. That was also unfortunate, as images and descriptions on websites were misleading. I stayed in an Executive Single Room during my week here. The room itself was contemporary and updated, however, housekeeping was inconsistent. Some days, my room was cleaned impeccably, others, housekeeping was abysmal or nonexistent. Towels oftentimes had rips or stains on them. The curtains had small rips and were stained. In addition, one of the blankets was stained. The provided toiletries were good. The bed itself was comfortable, but the pillows were very poor quality. The hotel did not specially publicize a smoking policy. Oftentimes, the corridors reeked of smoke. Cigarettes littered the pool deck and common areas in the hotel. Staff worked hard to keep surfaces in the lobby disinfected, however, their efforts were undermined by thousands of guests utilizing these areas. I do believe the hotel is understaffed. The hotel would benefit from having maintenance and housekeeping readily available and on call for assistance. When I necessitated maintenance, I was told I would have to wait for the following morning when the technician would be available. While the rooms were updated and contemporary, the bathrooms were rundown. The hotel shows it’s apparent age on the exterior, and in the elevators. Some surfaces were cracked and not functional. I experienced difficulties in the elevators. They stopped working at times, leaving me stuck. Again, better maintenance would remedy these concerns. The location of the hotel is a positive. It is surrounded by transit options that provide direct links to cities all across the country. This is ideal for all visitors. Overall, the hotel served it’s purpose. I do believe the hotel is ill equipped to handle the high volume of guests that stay here. Housekeeping is marginal, and must be improved. Maintenance needs to pay closer attention to the aging property. Finally, security here is lacking. I have some concerns as it pertains to safety. Front desk staff has no control over people

Hotel Do Chile

Baixa Lisbon|1.18km from Museu do CNE (Corpo Nacional de Escutas-Escutismo Católico Português)
This hotel has lower prices than others of the same service and quality, especially if you're booking in advance. The problem is that after it's fully booked they start cancelling the cheap bookings to make space for the more profitable ones, leaving the people who booked first without a reservation a few days before arriving or even the day of arrival, like it happened to me. I booked this hotel in December for three nights on Easter 2022, I chose it because it was the cheapest option for a good hotel in a central location. The day before I arrived I got a notification from Booking that I needed to update my credit card details, because it was not working, so I updated the information, but the problem persisted. I wrote the hotel to confirm my reservation and that my credit card was working perfectly, and they replied that it was OK and that they were waiting for me. When I arrived to the hotel happily to start my first holidays after two years of covid, they told me that my reservation was cancelled because they couldn't charge the credit card and that it was fully booked. But that they had a hotel nearby with available rooms for a price 60 euros per night higher than my original reservation (180 euros in total higher than the original, for a room of two people). I refused because I was very angry and I didn't trust them, so I ended up making a new reservation using Booking that was 240 euros more expensive than the original (80 euros per night) and without breakfast, because there were only a few rooms available in whole Lisbon, even in cities nearby. The new hotel was not luxurius, it was basically a hostel that was more expensive than normal because the city was fully booked, it was much more expensive than going to London or New York. So I don't recommend anyone to trust their holidays or financial security to this hotel, please avoid it, there are much better options in Lisbon, it's better to pay 10 or 20 euros more per night than 80, and to lose you experience in Lisbon. I'm not a native English speaker but I'm writting in English to increase the scope of my experience to prevent future travellers of this tourist trap.

A great valued hotel in an excellent location in Lisbon. Located right outside Arroios metro station making it a 10 minute journey to the central areas and 1 change at Alameda to go the the airport. The room was spacious and comfortable with a brilliant shower. Room has lots of amenities including fee toiletries, a desk and a fridge and you can request as kettle when you check in. Reception staff were attentive and friendly as were the housekeeping staff who gave us a birthday card too. Breakfast had a plenty of options from pastries to cereal and hot food. You will always be full! It gets quite busy around 8am but there is enough seating to be able to relax and keep going back for more! The hotel also give guests a free coffee voucher which we used once we checked out. Would stay here again and would recommend to anybody visiting Lisbon.

The location of this hotel is far from historic center but 10 minutes walking to the nearest Alameda metro, but first the walking distance to the Alameda metro station is not to closed. Then get off in Rossio metro station and walk in historic center. Then going back the same and going up the hill is not easy as they say. The hotel cleaning was fine. The staff too. Breakfast so so, not for the price of 9 euros p/p. Now the noise from next door rooms was horrible, no respect to anyone and beds not as comfortable. The are does not look to safe, but is ok. Just be early at the hotel.

It is a good hotel. People are very friendly and helpful. They offered us free coffee. The rooms need refurbishing for sure. The bed was comfortable. It is very old and looks dusty even though it is not. The bathroom also needs an update. There was no shampoo at all. It was not checked. The hot and cold water is unstable. Ups and downs 153 euros per night is too much for my experience.

Booked this hotel because it is in easy walking distance of the Rock in Rio festival site. Was also delighted to find that right outside the front door is the entrance to the Alameda metro station - 6 stops to the city centre and 6 stops to theairport, without having to change! Staff were extremely helpful and friendly. Excellent cafe across the road if you don't want the hotel breakfast and on our last day we also discovered the Impresso Restauarnt (about 100 yards away) which looks as if it might be a converted cinema. Decor might be a little tired but all in all, I thought that the hotel was excellent value.
