Lisbon Serviced Apartments - Estrela

Estrela
Wasmachine, vaatwasser, magnetron, broodrooster etc. De appartementen liggen niet minden in het centrum en in het mooiste gedeelte van Lissabon maar met de taxi, uber of het OV ben je zo overal. Wij hebben hier een goed verblijf gehad.

Lisbon Old Town
Lovely, relatively modern hotel. I got an Uber from the airport as I was unsure of the Metro in Lisbon. However, after some research, I realised there was a Metro station a 10 minute walk from the hotel so very easy to get to red line from the airport and one change onto the yellow line to Rato. Check in was flawless and professional - all the staff I encountered were very nice, polite etc. The room was lovely and very spacious. The floor to ceiling sliding doors/windows were a godsend with the hot weather, as were the blinds and air con! Bathroom was a lovely size, clean and modern. The bar was quite bland to be honest and only had bottled beer. Breakfast was served in a lovely, airy restaurant on the lower ground floor - there was outside tables available on the patio too. Breakfast was good enough, although I felt quite a limited choice. All in all, a great place to stay in a quiet neighbourhood a 15 - 20 minuet walk to the centre or the riverside. Beware though - Lisbon is a very hilly city! Would I stay again - yes, I probably would.

Estrela
Lovely hotel with extremely friendly, helpful staff and great rooms. It has a pleasant outdoor area for sunbathing and a small pool. The hotel is located out of the centre (which may not be ideal for everyone and is a long walk) but we knew this when we booked it. It is only approx 4 Euros for an Uber into the centre, or 2 Euros per person on the bus which run every 20 minutes (and the bus stop is very close to the hotel). The staff are all great and nothing is too much trouble. Breakfast is good with plenty of choice. You can ask for gluten fee bread and muffins each morning, if needed. The room was spacious, clean and exactly what we needed for our 4 day stay. Some reviews we saw complain that the hotel is on the flight path for the airport but we found no issue at all with this - no noise and no sleep disruption. We had major issues on our last day because our flight was cancelled due to ATC issues in the UK. We were effectively stranded and needed to organise extra accommodation, replacement flights, trains etc. Fernanda let us use the reception laptop and she helped us with printing and answering a lot of questions! She also arranged a room for the night in a 'sister' hotel in central Lisbon so that we had somewhere to stay because the Jardim da Lapa was full. She really helped to make a stressful situation less tense!

Lisbon Old Town
We stayed as a family for 4 nights and unfortunately the hotel didn’t live up to expectations for a couple of specific reasons. First of all, we should point out that the hotel is pleasant enough and is indeed set in beautiful grounds. The breakfast was also of good quality. Our issue was that we came away feeling that children were not really welcome at this hotel. On each of the days that we sat by the pool, we saw ours and other children being told off by the same staff time and time again for having the temerity of raising their voices slightly, or throwing a ball around in an empty pool. When asked why, the staff seemed to blame the adult guests for complaining! The other issue is location. The hotel is literally in the middle of nowhere - no bars, no restaurants, nothing to see, nothing to do. The centre is a decent distance away. Overall, we would recommend staying elsewhere if you have children under 16 - this is not a family hotel and doesn’t even pretend to be once you are there. In addition, if your intention is to actually see parts of central Lisbon it may be worth looking for something more central to ensure large parts of your holiday are not spent in the back of a taxi.

Lisbon Old Town
The hotel is quite well located, 20 minutes walk from the center of Lisbon. The receptionists speak Spanish perfectly and are very attentive when it comes to taking a *** to move around the city. Parking is fine, inside the hotel itself. It is discovered but has a fairly affordable price, € 7 / day. The elevator is very old, but really beautiful, something that caught our attention. The rooms are tiny, but for a couple they are pretty good, you can move easily. It has no air conditioning but it comes in very cool through the windows, so much that we had to sleep wrapped up all night. The views from our room were also beautiful, I leave a photo below. To return, no doubt.

The hotel was very clean. The rooms were adequate. All perfect. The hotel staff was very friendly and took great care of us. They were very helpful. The buffet breakfast was great, there was a lot of variety and everything was delicious. There was proper fruit, typical pastries, everything. The location of the hotel is very good, because although the street seems a bit dangerous, the hotel has a metro stop on the corner that communicates very well with everything, and all kinds of bus stops that allow you to go everywhere. It is very well connected to take public transport. Also going down the street you are in the entire area of the center of alleys.
