Great hotel! Location not yet 5min vd highway(a1) and large secure parking garage with discount for hotel guests(€8 12/u €16 24/u). All new, luxurious and super clean. Beautiful rooms, good beds, fohn & powerful shower. Invalid room also top adapted for wheelchairs with screw/high toilet/douche/additional room. Box and large TV on the room. Breakfast very extensive from scramled eggs/bacon/sweets to bread, meat products and sweets. Yochurt,corn flakes,fruit & apple meals. Hotel has exceeded our expectations and we will certainly come back! Also very safe if you travel only there the lifts ed work only with room card ;) A few minutes the airco can better stay for us just too warm

We chose this hotel on cost, but it turned out to be very well-located, an easy 10-minute walk from either Lille station and the city centre (Grand Place), and even closer to the old town. The hotel is clean and functional, with all the basics: comfy bed, tiny but well appointed ensuite shower-room, small desk and surprisingly comfortable chair, blackout blind on the window... Breakfast was the usual cold buffet items: cereals, fresh fruit, yogurt, cheese, breads, croissants, preserves, plus juices and hot drinks. All high quality except the whole apples (there was fruit salad too), which were dull and several were bruised - both mornings. Wifi was good both in our 4th floor room and in the breakfast room. Staff were rather dour, and not quite on it clearing breakfast detritus, for example, but that was fairly minor issue for us. But it was the location which made it special - just round the corner from Rue du Gand, a pretty cobbled street full of eating establishments and gateway to both the old town and the main centre.

Really quaint and quirky hostel in Lille's downtown core. Very nice staff and great for socializing, especially in their open patios! Rooms are tidy and clean including bathrooms. Breakfast is served with a wide range of options (definitely try the cheese) and a large choice of beers. Only downside was no lockers, but hopefully that's a feature in the near future!

I must admit - seeing some less than stellar reviews, I came very close to canceling my reservation and going with another hotel. I am glad I did not. Honestly, I am not sure why there are complaints as if everyone is perfect. The hotel is great! Beds comfortable, showers clean, views beautiful. AC works nicely. Any time I asked for help - Ambre and Nicolas were super helpful. Whether changing my room due to proximity to the elevators, to just simple reservation help in the city - they did above and beyond. And every day greeted me with a polite smile. What else can one ask for? Meals - breakfast and dinner buffet is very nice, with wide variety of food. For those complaining, my recommendation - there is SO MANY DIFFERENT CHOICES! Do not concentrate on a few you did not like, concentrate on ones you did. After all, this is what buffets are about, right? CHOICES!. They even have Big Green Egg, and they smoke delicious meat on it, from sausages to salmon! Location - a great location, close to train station and walking distance to museums, park, old city. Room Cleaning - sometimes I would leave my ”Do Not Disturb” sign a bit longer. And they would still clean the room, and would not forget the turndown service - putting chocolate on a pillow, closing curtains. Loved it. All in all, I thoroughly enjoyed it. Thank you guys! Will definitely come back. I hope I get my 917 :)

The hotel Is situated in the backstreets of what seemed like a residential area of Lille. I am not too mobile so the location for me wasn’t great, it was about 10 mins walk to the metro or further to walk into the centre. Lille itself has a lot of beggars so have your wits about you. The staff were very helpful and friendly and the room was basic but clean and comfortable although very dark die to small window which was covered by outside plants. Booking.com stated free onsite parking but we didn’t realise we needed to request this on the booking so when we arrived the hotel car park was full and we had to pay €14 to leave our car in the stree outside, which was fine but initially we were dubious due to the location of the hotel. For the price we got what we expected.

Great first impressions: plentiful free parking next to a kind of leisure complex with green space to walk about. Efficient, friendly check in and we really liked everything about the downstairs area. Spacious seating areas with comfy chairs as well as bar/cafe area where good value breakfast was available. More seating in the garden where Ibrahim made the most delicious pizzas. We sat here both evenings and it was a really nice atmosphere. The metro station is an easy 10 minute walk and 10 more minutes into the town centre. Unfortunately upstairs is a different story. The bedrooms are so small that 2 adults struggle to walk around at the same time and it is difficult to do anything in the bathroom unless you open the door. Basic furnishing - double bed with 2 tiny pillows, TV, coat hangers. One towel is provided, others are charged at €2 each. But the worst is that it is so claustrophobic due to the small window giving little light or air. On a warm night we found it very uncomfortable and woke frequently as it was so hot. I would give downstairs 4 but the bedrooms 2 so overall 3.

We when from Uk and check in after driving 6 hour to get there to find out the promo he gave us I wouldn’t even like my enemies to go sleep in that sort of an apartment it’s embarrassing if you’re taking someone with you I have added photos to see the walls were not painted there were cracks on the walls from top to bottom and only give it a one star rating Within two minutes of seeing the room I went to reception again try to get a better room and gave them a chance to sort it out instead he told me there are no rooms available and when you see online it said two available. Aircon was not working It’s one they control reception was not helpful at all we did not stay in the hotel looking at the room you could not stay charged me a cancellation fee which they should not have Knowing the room was in such a bad condition Paid for the full accommodation before arriving from the booking.com had to call booking.com to sort it out when I checked in on the first asked for the city tax Left straight away charge me €160 and no paperwork to follow as check out or anything like that kept my credit card details when paid Booking.com avoid avoid and avoid

We stayed here over the Paris Roubaix weekend, had an excellent stay. Great breakfast, parking close by, Easily Cycleable to the Roubaix velodrome in the morning. The manager was extremely helpful, and good English which was useful as my French is terrible. The room was comfortable, could probably do with a couple more pillows, and it was a touch warm, no matter what we pressed to cool it down, but the window was easily opened to let a breeze in.

GGuest UserThe hotel is excellently located opposite the main train station where the Eurostar arrived. The area was very quiet and also within walking distance to pretty much everything we needed to see so we walked everywhere and never needed public transport. The lobby of the hotel is cosy and very welcoming and the people at reception were friendly and very accommodating. The room was nice and the beds very comfortable. We didn’t have breakfast at the hotel so cannot comment on that but we enjoyed our stay and would stay here again.

MMichelle71We stayed here one night when we needed rescuing last minute due to the train strike. Usual clean, comfortable Ibis hotel, always good for a short city break, however avoid room 105, the wifi was shocking (ibis generally have good wifi as I have stayed in a few) and I called it a little prison cell, as the only window was up by the ceiling less than a foot long, had I been staying more than one night I would have asked for a new room. Natural light was poor. But it was clean and comfortable, general Ibis standards and good for a short stay. It’s across the road from Westfield shopping centre, and an easier walk from the station if you cut through the shopping centre, google maps took us the long way around. It was a good 10/15 minute walk from the centre of town, nice Christmas markets, and no restaurants within easy walking distance, unless you like the food courts in Westfield. Staff were friendly. My gripe is the check in! We arrived at the same time as a massive coach party, who’s tour guide made all his approx. 50 guests congregate around the small check in area whilst he called out their names and handed out their keys! They have a huge seating area to the rear, I’m not sure why the tour guide didn’t move his 50 guests to that area as he shouted out each individuals name and handed them their keys. We had to weave through all these guests to do our check in over his hollering.

GGuest UserI can't fault my experience of The Carlton Hotel, from the cheerful and helpful staff, to the lovely spacious room & bathroom. The breakfast room was wonderful, (complete with views of the square and Opera House), matched by the excellent choice of food. A wonderful way to start the day!

GGuest UserOn the last day of our stay I had to get onto reception to clean room no toilet paper no clean towels. The receptionist said you were in your room. That's why we could not clean it, so 8 said OK my husband and I will go out for an hour. We came back and the maid was just finishing off the room. The walls had filled in holes and wood hip paper over them. The toilet no bleach down and had to use my hand wipes to clean toilet. You have to mind all the steps when getting out of toilet and bathroom, also make sure you shut your hotel door properly as it does not shut itself. The breakfast croissant were greasey, I took my own teabags. As the ones they had were mint and the coffee pod machine was filthy don't use. We stayed in room 306 avoid, as you will here very loud noise off buses, cars beeping there horns at each other every night and day. Before the pandemic we stayed in room 308 that was OK. When you try to speak to reception they don't understand you unless you speak in French. Breakfast we went for 6am and around 7am was absolutely full no seats or tables. Seats are like wood and metal tables all wonky. One of the machines were broken in breakfast area. One of the breakfast staff always swapping things round when your trying to have a quiet breakfast. Like setting bowls and hot plate up again. Say its a 2 star instead of 3 star, the microwave you can only put microwave chips on from carrefour. Lille is 4 times expensive now and beggers argue with you and follow you around till you give them money. If you don't give beggers money they try to take your bags off you and I think got the jest they are threatening you. You have to walk away from them quickly. We will never go there again.

GGuest UserLocation is good, near the Lille Flandres station. Also near a collapsed building, which is a little scary, but was not a problem during our stay. Hotel is beautiful & clean, although each room has a different layout, so quality may vary a bit. Concierge is very nice, but is not always guarding the front desk. Biggest problem is the hotel is infested with mosquitoes & has no air conditioning. My room also didn't have any outlets near the bed, making it difficult to plug in my phone or fans.

GGuest UserThe location of this hotel is great. You are literally just round the corner from Le Grande Place and only about 9 minutes’ walk from the Euralille station. The place is clean and rather small. Breakfast is included in the price, which is a bonus. Breakfast is a typical continental style with ham, cheeses, pastries, eggs, etc. it was perfectly fine. Six of us stayed here in six rooms over the weekend and found it a great base from which to explore the city. It was also a reasonable price and the staff were friendly and spoke English. There were two downsides (nowhere is perfect). Firstly, the heating in my room was very erratic. When we arrived it was 1C outside and my room was cold. I turned up the electronic control to 24C but it did absolutely nothing at all. Next morning at breakfast I reported this. 10 mins later I was told it had been checked and was working perfectly. I was curious. When I got back to my room I found the heating was still not working. The room was cold and even turning the thermostat to 28C produced no warm air from the grille whatsoever (even after waiting 20 mins). I therefore turned the thermostat down to 19C and went out for the day. When I got back I could see that somebody had turned the thermostat up to 27C and the room was exceptionally warm. I turned it down to 19C. The temperature dropped, and dropped until the room was quite cold again. Nothing I did could turn that heating back on. So I gave up. The second downside? The toilet paper in the bathroom was ridiculously small. Each square being a little over the size of a postage stamp. Come on Ibis. Install some proper toilet paper like people use at home. Apart from these two downsides, I would stay here again. My colleagues, who didn’t have problems with their heating, but who also commented on the toilet paper, would agree.

WWanderingAn excellent address for people who want to visit Lille. It is located less than a mile a way from the station. And it’s easy to get to sights.
The hostel is very clean and the service is great. A good place ran by friendly people. The breakfast is amazing by hostel standards as you get bread, cheese, ham, olives, yoghurt, cereals, hot drink and orange juice.
There are also some community activities/workshops going on, but haven’t experienced these.
