The hotel is lovely and the staff are amazing but the facilities let it down. The layout is weird-the only bar is located in an 'annexe'. We were there Friday, Saturday and Sunday and we only managed to have a drink in the bar once on the friday evening as it was closed on Saturday and Sunday. And even as hotel guests, we couldn't get a drink. We didn't use the restaurant as it is a Michelin starred one, again, only open on certain days. And we were on room only so breakfast wasn't included. But, on a more positive note, the location is 10/10. A minutes walk to lots of bars and restaurants and also a couple of places to have breakfast. We ate in the Italian 'Bellezza' which was amazing, there is always a queue so you will need to book. The rooms are very well equipped-ask for fresh milk if you want to make tea or coffee.

Just returned from a lovely 3 night stay at this hotel. Beautifully modernised and furnished, with a friendly and helpful staff, it is situated in a perfect location in old Lille - ideal for sightseeing and eating out. With so many cafes within walking distance we didnt try the breakfast at the hotel so cant comment on the quality, but it did seem a little pricey at 35 euros each. We did however eat at their restaurant, La Table, and had a wonderful meal. Fresh, innovative and tasty with attentive service. A great place to stay.

Hotel was well positioned in the centre of Lille, in its own private courtyard set back from the road. The hotel is small and well designed, keeping elements of the historic charm and with some modern touches. Does it offer the luxury amenities you would expect in Paris? No. It’s like a really nice B&B with a Michelin star restaurant. If they were to up their maintenance and amenities this could be an exceptional hotel in the north of France.

we came to lille to stay for only two nights but we were amazed by the hotel that made us extend our visit to 9 days.. the hotel is like a dream ..I am writing now while I am sitting in their small garden that is tranquil and peaceful, the bells of the church next to the hotels adds magical charm..the rooms are designed in unique way , the beds are comfortable and fluffy.. unfortunately the Micheline star restaurant was closed due to holidays .. but that didnt affect our stay as the area is full of good food restaurants.. the staff in the reception are so kind and friendly and exceptionally helpful as all of the restaurant employees too. if you are looking for a peaceful trip I highly recommend the Clarance Hotel. its like a magical trip for me back in the 18 Century. this is my humble honest review . and definitely this will not be my last visit to the hotel.

Positive - Friendly and helpful staff. Negatives - overpriced for what we received; suite located on 3rd floor with no lift; sewage smell from bathroom permeated room; restaurant closed both nights we were there so no option to eat lunch/dinner at the hotel; dusty room; cramped suite; uncomfortable sofa bed for our son; breakfast overpriced - limited selection of pastries, coffee from an automated machine, eggs poorly cooked. Disappointing.

Loved the Clarance, centrally located just a short walk to the main square and ideally located for the old town. Reception staff spoke excellent English and were young, friendly and enthusiastic. Our room, Albatross (not the cheeriest poem), faced the front of the hotel and was tastefully furnished, blending contemporary furnishings and fittings with original period features. Coffee pods and milk could have been more plentiful, but fresh milk was supplied on request. We eschewed the breakfast which, no doubt beautiful, was a little on the dear side at €35 per person per day. That's on par with London's better hotels. Sadly, we didn't get to sample the restaurant as it was quite quiet on the evenings we were in Lille and there is a plethora of reasonable, traditional restaurants within minutes. Maybe not Michelin-starred but cosy and friendly. Apart from breakfast, the Clarance offered reasonable value for money and all the staff were a credit to the industry.

Not worth the price we paid. Bathroom was a mess with broken light, shower, door etc. We are not used to having these issues in a 5 star hotel. Our room, nor the hall nor the stairs were vacuumed in the 3 days we were there! Great location though.
