Lijiang Lan Yu Ancient Town Hotel

Knowing that we are celebrating our 25th wedding anniversary this trip, hotel upgraded our room to their premium room with a magnificent view of the 玉龙雪山。Room is very well decorated and GM Amber even surprised us with a fruit platter and a gorgeous yummy anniversary cake 🥰 Lan Yu is a very nicely designed, authentic yet modern hotel which just opened about 1 year plus ago. Their breakfast is nicely decorated and delicious too! Location is very convenient just beside the old city of Lijiang without having to do all the climbing and dragging of luggage to reach the hotel. We would like to express our thanks to Amber, Victoria and Xiao Gao for the extreme warmth and homely feel we received during our stay at Lan Yu. 🙏🏻 Very thankful for the help and care from Amber especially as I sustained ankle injury whom still continue to render us help and showed care even after we checked out of Lan Yu already. 🙏🏻 This is a memorable stay for us and we will definitely return to stay at Lan Yu if we return to Yun Nan for our next trip!

While the hotel amenities clearly lived up to its 5* rating, the professionalism of the staff, and service level clearly exceeded that. We had a medical emergency close to midnight on our last night, and the staff responded with great resourcefulness, given the late hour of the day. They helped to procure essential medication from a nearby shop, and very importantly, helped to purchase an ankle boot via the online platform *******, without which we will have great difficulty in going home the next day. Tip top service, great location and well run facility. Clearly we’ll be back here again on our next visit to Lijiang

Brand new hotel, we really liked the modern design of the rooms and appliances provided. The location is also great, just at the entrance of the old city. This means it is extremely easy not only to walk to the city but also to catch a taxi. There is also a local fruit and meat market around the corner, which is opened in the morning. And a night street food market. The staff was extremely helpful and nice. One of them spoke English, which was helpful for us as we unfortunately don’t speak Chinese. For breakfast, at our request they brought us some yoghurt and jam. They even helped us organise a transfer to tiger leaping gorge and onward journey to Shangri-la at a very good price. It was much appreciated - do ask for what you need as from our experience the staff is willing to go the extra mile to help. The service would be even better if the following points could be addressed. 1. More organisation at breakfast - eg breakfast starting time should be respected. 2. In our booking we had a “pu’er tea experience” included - which we had to ask for and also felt it was a bit underwhelming (we were simply served some complimentary tea). 3. One night we received a dessert - this was much appreciated but unfortunately the empty bowls were left in our room the following day. 4. We stayed at the property in November and found the common spaces to be a bit too cold for us (eg breakfast room) 5. There’s a nice fireplace in the lobby which we wished would have been on to create a cosier atmosphere. Despite this, I would definitely recommend this place for the location, the comfortable rooms, and helpful staff.
