Venture Inn
4.2/5100 Reviews
After reading the reviews on Tripadvisor I thought the Venture Inn would be a great choice for an overnight stop on our ”Montana Road Trip.” What I found was quite the opposite. While the front desk person was friendly and helpful, I was shocked to see that she handed us actual keys for the room. Now, I'm not a snob but am accustomed to hotels like the Hampton Inn or Fairfield Suites and no one uses anything but card readers for security for at least the last 15 years. The security for the door was a chain lock from possibly the 1970s. The door shifted as people went down the hall - not enough soundproofing. The room came furnished with a small coffeemaker, hotel size refrigerator, microwave and tv. There were NO USB ports to be found and one electrical cord with 3 outlets attached to the desk. They do have internet and you are given the code for that when you check in. The bathtub was a premanufactured fiberglass tub/shower combo. Water pressure was good but the bottom of the tub was not one you would want to soak in after traveling all day - it was probably clean but appeared dingy. The bed was a deep mattress atop a wooden base that was approximately 8 inches high. A recliner sits in the corner but if extended it would hit the bed. Night stand on only one side of the bed because of the space taken by the recliner. Standard desk area with only a lamp and the 3 outlet extension cord attached. Microwave needs to be installed so that it doesn't move backwards as you push the lever to open the door. Small kitchen table with coffeemaker on it sits in front of a mirror that is approximately 30x48”. Makeup mirror in the bathroom would be a plus - much in the bathroom needed a plus. There were two bath towels, two hand towels and two washcloths - one of which was wrapped around the sample size shampoo, etc. in a small container identical to the ones found at Dollar Tree. Ice bucket was not insulated - only a small plastic container that was reminiscent of the kitchen canisters my mom had on her counter in the 1960s. We asked for another towel at the front desk and received it immediately with a friendly smile. There is no complimentary breakfast but they do have free cookies in the lobby as well as the most gorgeous life-size wood carvings displayed for sale there and the artist is very talented. There is also a restaurant on site - you get a 15% discount while staying at the hotel but we chose to eat elsewhere. In case you can't tell, I was sorely disappointed with this hotel and would advise those reserving a room here to expect little and you won't be disappointed.
