Visited the pub today half way through a walk. Lovely cozy and welcoming pub with separate dining area and bar with flagstone floor. Sunday lunch was superb, sparks were flying off our plates. Three options for meat eaters and three for veggies - almost unheard of in most pubs I’ve visited. The meat free roast was huge, hot and very, very tasty. Reasonably priced too. Fabulous, well done.

This place is a gem, the rooms (only 3) are spotlessly clean. The view from our room was spectacular (double with Mountain View). The food was amazing, huge portions and exceptional quality. The staff are friendly, very welcoming and couldn’t be more helpful. My wife and I will be definitely be back, thanks.

Another lovely stay in this beautiful hideaway part of england. Paul and diane are excellent hosts ,run a lovely old pub with great food and comfy, clean accommodation. All aspects of our stay were brilliant, but diane's breakfasts with her charm and humour were memorable. Thank you both and we wish you all the very best for the future .

Such a friendly welcome - thank you. We went with our family on a lovely summer afternoon for local beer, orange juice and ice creams. The lady was really so nice! A pleasant end to our day in Coverdale and the surrounding area. We will be sure to return on our next visit.

THE BEST SUNDAY LUNCH. We visit regularly and recommend The Forresters to friends, colleagues and clients in the knowledge that they will have a fantastic experience, be it for Sunday Lunch or Evening dinning. Also helped by the fact that the 🍷 is superb, always a plus, as so many other establishments manage to serve a vinegar related consistency disguised as Red Wine!! Anyways back to the food and service. 100% consistency on both counts at every visit. There is always a very warm welcome from everyone at The Forresters. Diana, Paul, Charlotte, Jason and Molly are an amazing team and always go way above to ensure our trip is the best. Dianas food is EXCELLENT, freshly prepared, exceptionally tasty and very generous portions, no bought in frozen here. We have also visited in the evening, as with the Sunday Lunch, the quality of the evening menu is superb and there is so much to choice from, freshly prepared and of the highest quality (the chicken skewers are definitely worth trying, your won’t be disappointed).

Fancied a day off cooking Sunday Lunch so decided to pop up here and i reckon it was possibly my best decision of the year thus far. It is a lovely typical Dales pub with stone flags and low beams. The menu suits the pub and location. If you fancy stuff au jus or with a foam you are in the wrong place. If you want a proper Yorkshire Sunday lunch then you are not going to get better. The beef came out on a plate with yorkshire pudding, roast and mash, red cabbage roast parsnip. A big old lunch i thought to myself and thankfully no broccolli. The attentive and friendly waitress then brought out cauli cheese and more veg. A mammoth meal all cooked as one would want, beautifully soft red cabbage with a bit more tooth to the carrot. The mrs ate the broccolli. Proper gravy too, no kumps in this one. I just squeezed in a bit of sticky toffee pudding which was spot on. To top it all it was washed down with a couple of pints of Wensleydale ale that was sublime. All told just over £50 for 2 lunches, puds and drinks it was properly stunning value. Top location, fantastic proper Sunday Lunch, cracking ale, a brilliant venue. If you live within 20 miles and have not been give yourself a talking o and go.

Visited today for a meal with friends. Limited menu especially for a veggie, but was delighted when the the landlord said they do a "meatfree" carvery as well as pork, beef and chicken. "Meatfree" to any veggie means a quorn or similar alternative. I was, though dismayed when the meal arrived as a normal meat carvery just without the meat. I was doubly dismayed when I was charged the same price as the meat carvery. In fairness the landlord offered me the only alternative of Veggie Lasagne, but the rest of my group has already tucked in to their meals and I didnt want to wait. It did feel like we were back in the 1980's.
