The Bull on the Green

The village. Was our regular pub for years before moving to another overseas location. New owners since our last visit. The room we had was a single garage conversion. Couldnt swing a cat. The shower was microscopic. Hand basin was part ofvthe cistern on loo. Should be a single space for a Hobbit. They are taking the mickey on pricing too. Booked BnB on our first night back in village. V disapp. Woken at 5am by a guy next door banging around. He left at 5.30 to meet up with work pals in other rooms, making racket shouting and then slamming van doors. The evening meal was awful. Then 10% service charge was added. The breakfast we booked was disgraceful as it turns out you only get Continental incl in rate. The cooked Full English wasnt just given a nominal supplement charge of say £5, but a ful charge of £12!! Will never set foot in the Bull again. Pity but the new owners who arent on site, have left their staff to pick up the grief.

All ok Everything was just ok. Executive double room was the smallest room I’ve ever stayed in and with the oldest en-suite. Staff were nice and food was good.

We very much enjoyed our Christmas lunch today. We pre-ordered from a good menu selection and thought the food was excellent. The beef was tender, with crispy roast potatoes and a huge Yorkshire pudding. I had a very nice starter of smoked salmon on little toasts with pickled cucumber and a crème Fraiche dressing followed by tender roast turkey with all the trimmings. Yum! They had a lovely Christmas tree and several log fires to make it cozy and fairy lights on the beamed ceiling. Service was very good and we were very well looked after, thank you. I would have given it five stars but there were a few areas of the building which needed some improvement including the outside front area, which was a bit scruffy with a rather tired doormat in the entryway so it didn’t make a good first impression. Unfortunately the chilly ladies cloakroom whilst perfectly clean really needed renovating. Perhaps the new owners will get onto this in time.
