My 2 daughters and I had Sunday lunch at the White Hart on 20th July and it was a lovely experience. The food was delicious, the waiting staff were attentive and more than happy for us to move to the outside terrace to enjoy our desserts and coffees in the sunshine. All in all a real treat! I will certainly return.

We came in ‘off the street” in the early morning when we discovered that our overnight stay in nearby village did not do breakfast. Beautiful old hotel and proud of its decor. Our breakfast was fantastic. I had perfect Eggs Royale and my husband had a hearty full English breakfast. It was all excellent but highest praise goes to their coffee as most hotels do not do coffee well. Thank you to the unseen chef! Also, we had a wonderfully calm man taking the orders. It was quite busy with everyone arriving at the same time but he coped so well.

Love this place. Now had several lunches/drinks here latest today 19th July. Restaurant well laid out , nicely decorated and plenty of room and tables not on top of each other. Always been treated with a smile. Service overall pretty decent. I had a starter of crab and risotto fishcake, pretty tasty it was too We both had fish and chips today, tho previously I've had the pork and leek sausages which were fantastic. Fish very well cooked with lovely crispy batter with minted peas and tartare sauce chunky chips. Only moot point it's served on wooden board and chips ,sauce and peas in ramekins (presentation?)... personally prefer just on a nice plate. Will definitely return

The White Hart hosted our wedding breakfast on 12/7/25. Having recently been refurbished, the ambience & decor was stunning. Our food was absolutely delicious. We had three courses & all our guests enjoyed every course. The service was excellent. All servers were friendly, polite & attentive without being intrusive. Many of our guests have said they will be booking a table in the future and we will definitely be back. Thank you The White Hart for making our wedding day so special.

Room , food , staff all great . Had a luxury room which was lovely and spacious with great aircon . Bathroom was huge , two person bath and double shower . One little point is that coffee tea etc is in one wardrobe with no lighting but all stocked well . Bed an pillows divine . We drank pre dinner on the roof top terrace with views of the downs and ate in the restaurant -starters mains and shared pud with wine all great( £116) inc coffee and a single malt ! Breakfast served till 10 am great choices but we had full English and full vegetarian with coffee etc . Staff all friendly - lovely time and Lewes is fascinating to walk round albeit hilly !

It's with regret that my recent stay at this lovely old hotel was unpleasant, more a case of great design leads to impracticality....Considering the room cost per night, expected more. This hotel is not suitable for summer stays when the English weather is hot! No air-conditioning at all throughout the building (unbelievable), the rooms are stifling hot with only a small fan to create a breeze which in fact only circulates the already present hot air within. Even sleeping on top of the bed made no difference, the worst nights sleep in years. Be aware that the character uneven steep old stairs caused elderly people shortage of breath, some found the heavy landing doors hard to open, if your on the 3rd floor be prepared ......(No Lift) The positives are the great space downstairs (breeze if any via open doors and windows), dining area looks fantastic, great food, and finally lovely staff who are very polite and helpful. If you attending for something to eat or drink, recommended. If your looking to stay for a night or two, be selective on the season you choose ! Premier Inn Lewes recommended for summer stays.

We ate out on the terrace - it was fantastic. Great food, lovely service, a fun atmosphere and really special views over the white cliffs of the Downs.
