The Abbaye is beautiful - it was renovated in 2022. I stayed there nearly two decades ago, it was beautiful then, more rustic, but some amazing features that have been "upgraded" with the renovation. The new bar is fabulous, great cocktails. Staff is very professional. We loved our breakfast. Unfortunately, due to timing, we were unable to dine and take advantage of the extensive wine list. The only issue we encountered was that the chambre we reserved was not the one we received. The photo and the description: "Chambre mansardée - Vue sur le parc Chambre mansardée, située au deuxième étage ayant une superficie d’environ 15 m² avec une vue sur le jardin et salle de bain avec baignoire." In English: Attic room with sloping roof (like shown in the photo). We really wanted (and expected this room). When shown to our room, which was not the mansardee, we were told it was more money than we had paid, which made no sense, since that is what we reserved and paid for. We offered to pay more to move, but the receptionist never got back to us. It was a big disappointment. That being said, an off-season opportunity and price to stay in a 4-star charming Abbaye was still above well worth it. It's just a shame we didn't get the room we specifically reserved and the receptionist treated us as if we were misinformed. Sigh. P.S. We speak French so it wasn't a situation of miscommunication.
