We stayed at this hotel on 16th March 2023. I had stayed at this hotel previously with my son before it became "JUFA" and as my wife and I were hiking our way through the Black Forest, it seemed the ideal location to end our trip. The welcome we received was friendly, and we made use of the swimming pool and sauna, which were lovely at the end of a day's hiking. The rooms and facilities (including the swimming pool) seem a little tired. It doesn't appear that much has been done in the way of maintenance since I last stayed 9 years ago. The Sauna was the only exception, which appeared well maintained. Our room had a cracked sink, which when you consider that the hotel was not busy, you would think they could have put us in a better room with no defects. This was also the only hotel on our trip where we were given two single beds pushed together as a double. We were told at check-in that we could only have a fixed menu (halb-pension), which was understandable as there weren't many people staying. There were options for the main course, and I chose the Sea Bass (Wolfbarsch), and my wife chose the mushroom tagliatelle. The food was simply awful. The worst food of our trip. The tomato soup was totally salty, way over seasoned. Both our main courses were bland at best. The tagliatelle was a demonstration of lazy, unimaginative cooking. No sauce, just mushrooms cooked in butter, served with over cooked pasta (I would feel sorry for vegitarians staying here, if that is their only choice). I can't say exactly what we had for dessert, but whilst my wife's looked fresh, whereas mine looked like it had been sitting around for a week (see my photos) in any case both were equally in-edible. When this was raised to the waitress, we were offered no apology and didn't see her again. Breakfast was buffet style. I think somethings were not fresh, and they may have been served up more than once. The sliced cheese, for example, was curling up at the edges, which is not normal (especially as we were not at a late breakfast sitting). We were careful what we selected to eat. On a positive note the staff in general were friendly and we enjoyed the sauna and swimming pool. However, this hotel is way below par, and I would not recommend it unless there is significant improvement. We stayed at this hotel on 16th March 2023.
