What a magical experience. Maria, Darek and all the staff really were wonderful. Always looking to help and make you feel as home. The property is stunning, the location is superb and the cabins mix in with nature. We went in winter and even with crazy weather there were activities to be done. Highly recommend the sea eagle safari. The food is Michelin star grade. The location is perfect for the northern lights, we just got to see it the last day due to winter storm conditions the other days. Can’t wait to be back

If you are looking for a destination that is pristine, unique, imaginative - this is it. The location itself is mind-boggling - in the middle of nowhere. A two hour ferry ride or a longer drive from the nearest airport in Bodø, northern Norway. I am told that the property has won quite a few awards for architectural innovation. I am not surprised as the property combines creativity with simplicity. The cabins literally sit on top of the water and are basic yet comfortable. The resort sources as much of the food that it can from the island on which it rests. The vegetable garden provides the greens whilst the water around is home to a variety of fish. The chef creates the most delicious yet simple meals bursting with natural flavours. Recreation includes fishing, kayaking, hiking or just relaxing in the sauna. Permanent residents on the island are the 13 staff members and the 20 odd sheep that help keep the grass neat and tidy. Most definitely a once in a lifetime experience which I would recommend to anyone who likes nature in its rawest form. The team at Mannshausen is just outstanding.

The most difficult part of this experiences (for 2 couples coming from the USA) is the trip to get to Manshausen (Oslo>Bodo>Ferry ride to Manshausen), but once you've arrived, it is one of the most beautiful places on earth. We stayed 3 nights- the sun barely sets, which was a new one for us. We chose 2 adventures curated by Manshausen- a trek on Nordskot Traverse and fishing, both spectacular. The Manshauen team is exceedingly professional, small and intimate like a family, and the culture extremely laid-back and relaxing.

What a fabulous place. As other reviewers note, it's not a casual trip to get here, but once you do, the mixture of playful and thoughtfu modern architecture, rural island life, dramatic mountain peaks, and the sea make amazing alchemy for a unique and truly special experience. Service went above and beyond at every step, dining was high quality and locally-oriented, and a great roster of activities from sauna to hiking to kayaking on offer, even in the off-season. We did the "eagle safari" to some islands about 30 min away and have never seen more sea eagles in one place - at least a dozen. Utterly remarkable experience, Adrian was a great guide. Worth every penny and every minute you spend to get here, you won't regret it. Cabins are phenomenal with floor-to-ceiling windows that are cantilevered over the water to make you think you are at sea (but happily no waves). Just idyllic. Plus: cute and fearless sheep roam the island. Go!

Beautiful small property on a water edge allowing you to relax and disconnect from the outside world. Super helpful staff (thank you Angus) who would do anything to please their guests, and an amazing restaurant serving a variety of local and international dishes. Well done to the team.

This elevated eco hotel is an amazing experience for anyone looking for an adventure off the beaten path. It is quite a trek to get to Manshausen, but once you are there, it is incredible. The cabins are extremely modern, ecofriendly, and playful. We went in July (bring nightmasks) and we did Nordskot Traverse excursion with Jessie, a knowledgeable and skillful Manshausen guide and halibut fishing. Angus, the head property manager, may be the maturist, friendliest guide we have ever met.

My wife and I recently spent some time here and HIGHLY recommend this to anyone looking for a place where you can relax, have some incredible adventures and eat some of the best food you’ll ever have! The staff on the island are some of the nicest, most accommodating people we have ever met. We stayed here as part of our two week honeymoon in Norway and I wish we would’ve stayed on the island longer. The cabins and island are beyond beautiful and there are no shortage of activists to do. We absolutely plan on visiting again!

Jaw dropping vistas and a stunning cabin built like a tiny house. You truly feel that you are at the end of the world. The cabin is incredibly cozy and built perfectly. Amazing food! The dinners were spectacular. We also went in a kayak trip with our guide, Adrian, who was so nice and very patient. Once in a lifetime place. Wow!

Three nights at Manshausen during my Norweigan adventure were just awesome. The location, remoteness and beauty were stunning and I was fortunate to have excellent weather. Staying in newly constructed Amundsen was most comfortable and had the benefit of air conditioning. Fishing with Adrian was amazing. It felt like we’d struck gold with the amount of fish we were catching. The food was very good, and a big thank you to Adrian, Jesse, Omar, Asta, Maria & those whose names escape me, under Angus’ leadership, I had a great stay.
