We did the Rest and Roast package for Sunday-Tuesday. The roast on the Sunday was lovely and the staff were super helpful. Breakfast on both Monday and Tuesday was lovely and a special mention is needed for the early morning staff member who was so friendly and helpful on both days. She is an asset to the team and made the weekend special. My only criticism of the stay would be the size of the rooms. We prefer to have a little more space. I also think it would be useful if a fence was built atound the accommodation to provide more privacy from the car park. This would improve guest experience and allow guests to relax outside without being seen by everyone in the carpark. We had a lovely time but that was largely due to the amazing staff in the morning who really went the extra mile. I think further work is needed to improve the accommodation especially for couples.

My partner & me were gifted a two night get-away from family, and we were so happy we could pick our own place in the UK, as we have a baby, so it made things a bit easier for us. We selected The Dukes because the reviews, photos and menu looked lovely. But we were severely disappointed when we arrived. The room was tiny, as was the bed; my partner and me could only just fit in it and it wasn't the most comfortable, the shower looked lovely and spacious, unfortunately we didn't stay long enough to use it. The first night we arrived we decided to try the 'A La Carte' menu which looked really good, however it did disappoint; the portions were tiny, it didn't taste great and we could definitely hear a microwave going off a lot... we did try to keep our hopes high as we wanted to enjoy two nights away. The next morning after breakfast we decided to leave, after only one night and a four hour drive, we could not tolerate staying any longer as we just weren't enjoying ourselves, despite the lovely location and lovely service from the staff; the room and the food just wasn't good enough. I do feel bad for the lovely lady from breakfast service who had to cook as well as serve front of house. My partner and me both work in the hospitality/chef industry and it may affect how we view the place as we have a certain standard for our own place or work and we do tend to expect it elsewhere, but I do genuinely think this place could use some improvement. We never complain about something unless it genuinely wasn't okay at all, and it was unfortunate this place missed the mark. I do wish it takes on board places for improvement, especially around the food as it could be a really good place to eat, drink and stay :))

Room is compact but adequate, large shower room, lots of tea and coffee....room very warm....TV too small for my aging eyes...great value would stay again....staff were very welcoming and friendly...five star Shower could do with a curtain and some minor touch ups

First ever visit. Four adults for lunch. Plenty of car parking. Staff really friendly, decent beer, good food and reasonably priced. Main course, dessert and drinks c£29 a head. Definately one to revisit. Also, reckon it will be worth a visit to try their cooked breakfast.

Catherine C 2 Do not book here Review of The Dukes B&B Reviewed 1 week ago we booked to stay at this venue on 8th December for a 2 night stay which was a gift to us. The room was one of 3 converted stables. The double bed just about fixed in the room with no space to put anything. The fire on the wall looked like it had just been taken out of a skip. Filthy and rusty. Cannot believe that it was safe . When opening the door to the bathroom there was no heating and was colder than outside. The shower tiles had been repainter and chipping off and the state of the room was horrible. When going to speak to the manager she suggested I ran the hot water so it warmed up the room first ! Also told there had never been a complaint 8 years of her being there. This place would not pass a heath and safety inspection. We left and booked into another hotel down the road at 7 pm as we could not stay at the Dukes. I have reported this to Find a gift and they are not interested and have not answered the question as to what was the last date the company Find me a gift made an inspection of the property . Still waiting for a response 2/1/2025 More Date of stay: December 2024

Lovely little place. The room was clean with some toiletry’s , Hair dryer available. Tea, coffee in the room. 1 wardrobe. En-suite ok. Show worked well and temperature adjustable. On comment for us was could have done with a shelf in the bathroom and the extractor fan did not do much and was very noisy. But a great place to say and having the pub serving great food is a bonus.
