Worse experience i/we have ever had at a hotel. Accepted my husbands cc , who stayed at this hotel for 30 something days and he was never asked in the middle of his stay to show his cc again… even though he made an additional booking during his stay for a few days longer. I was visiting Leiden when he was leaving because our daughter started studying there. So when i came my husband mailed with the hotel to make a reservation for me , the hotel accepted his cc again with no remarks what so ever. And my husband had told them in the mail that he was leaving and i was going to stay at the hotel. They had already been payed for his longstay , had his approval of his card for my stay and they had everything they needed to claim the money at the end of my stay. But 4 days after he left they asked me for the cc ( mind you they never asked my husband for his cc during his stay!!). But my husband is an EU citizen ( white) and i am not a european ( brown/coloured person) . The bottomline is that they don’t trust people who are non-european/coloured. Even though they did trust my caucasian EU husband !!! In the end i gave them my cc and i still had 14 more days to stay … they pulled of the complete amount of the upcoming stay IMMEDIATELY!!! I have never seen this before. Such a bunch of money-grabbers . I felt very DISCRIMINATED by an all-white( blond) distrusting staff . My husband informed the manager and received an even worse mail back , complaining about my behaviour instead of verifying what had happend leading up to my dissatisfaction. The manager believed his staffmembers blindly. I had never been treated so bad in my life at a hotel or for that matter anywhere.( and we travel alot !) They had everything they needed to claim their payment in the end!!! I moved out the next day and went to the Fletcher Wellness across the street and had the best treatment i could imagen . Payment in full at the end of my stay no asking for cc during stay. Never again Golden Tulip Leiden , WORSE HOTEL EVER!

a great location but via my TomTom I ended up at the emergency department of the hospital. Searched again and not found. Then called the hotel and asked how to get there. That turned out to be only possible via the parking garage . In the parking garage it was also very difficult to find the entrance. So this is a very bad point of the hotel

That day, the hotels in Rotterdam and Amsterdam were all booked, and I finally booked this one, and the price should have gone up. The location is rather off, it should be difficult to get there without driving. The service attitude is okay, it seems to be the hotel of a small football club. Free parking, there are parking spaces

The hotel is located very close to the bus and train station and easy to find . The room was quiet, clean comfortable and I felt very safe on my own. The bathroom was clean and large with all amenities. There is no staff in the evenings but you can borrow plates, cutlery, wine glasses , bottle openers etc from the breakfast room . The room also has a small fridge and a kettle and there is an elevator. The bed was extremely comfortable and there is access to Netflix and Prime on the TV. There are lots of restaurants, cafes and supermarkets close by. I used Leiden as a base for visiting Lisse, Delft, Rotterdam, The Hague, Hillegom and Keukenhof.

The hotel is just opposite the train station, you can see it at a glance, the bus stop in the middle, the bus to Keukenhof stops here, very convenient, but not noisy, very quiet. The size of the room is ok, but there is not much room after the bed is placed. The bathroom is quite big, very clean, but the toilet is too strong, and the flush will splash out of the toilet.

This was the first hotel we stayed in on our tour of Holland. It certainly set the standard for our trip. The hotel is set in traditional buildings facing a canal in Old Leiden. We were warmly greeted on our arrival before being shown to our lavishly decorated room. The hotel buildings are narrow and tall like most of the old Dutch buildings and have been sympathetically renovated with many of their original features. This includes the staircase which is steep, narrow and winding. Taking our suitcase up to our room was challenging but we were assisted by the willing receptionist. I have to say it was well worth it, our room was stunning with lovely view over the canal. The room its self was fresh and clean and contained everything we needed for our stay. Breakfast was optional and we did opt for breakfast, which although it was quite expensive, it was well worth paying for. There was a great choice of hot and cold food and drinks that were all freshly prepared for you. In particular the extensive egg and tea menu's were quite impressive. The breakfast room itself was exquisitely decorated with panels of Dutch landscapes to browse whilst you ate. Old Leiden was also a beautiful part of the city and our hotel was the perfect base.

Very nice hotel, excellent breakfast, cosy rooms, terras for the kids outside, parking facilities at 100 meters from the hotel, the city centre at the doorstep of the hotel, Leiden is a nice city to spend a week, go shopping or visit many of the countless museums.
