Have stayed in many Premier Inn’s, despite on paper looking absolutely fine, this one is possibly the worst one I’ve stayed in. Stayed for 2 nights and booked a Premier Plus Double room, and with the exception of a coffee machine I couldn’t actually tell you any distinct difference between a standard room and a “premier plus” room. Not sure what we payed extra money for? Room was at least clean on arrival, however wasn’t cleaned on the second day which was annoying. We had a late return back that evening so it seemed pointless to go and ask downstairs to have it cleaned at that point. Shower leaked onto the floor where the glass screen on the bath had a gap in it. Not the end of the world but worth noting. Staff were friendly enough, but slow service at check in and especially during dinner. Onto the food. After experiencing food served my Premier Inn, I can understand why most of the hotels outsource it to other companies, and we were glad we never booked breakfast after eating dinner at the restaurant. Would avoid the food at all cost. Ordered x2 burgers and chicken goujons & chips. All 3 meals turned up with a handful of oven cooked fries, the small goujons (all 4 of them) came out of an oven and were rock hard, burgers had a couple of (burned) oven cooked onion rings for garnish, burgers themselves tasted similar to a popular brand of microwave burgers. As a place to lay your head, it’s fine. What you would want from a cheap hotel, the room is clean, comfortable and functional. Anything else this hotel has to offer isn’t noteworthy.

It had been years since I last stayed at a Premier Inn, but with Travelodge fully booked, I decided to give it a try. This particular hotel is located in the town center within a converted older building. Parking is charged separately, which is worth noting. Upon arrival, the reception team was welcoming and accommodating. They did apologize for ongoing maintenance work due to an external water leak. However, the lift area felt a bit unpleasant, with a strange smell and a general sense of being unclean—likely related to the maintenance issues. My room was on the third floor, facing away from the main road. While it was quiet, the first thing I noticed was how hot the room was. Unfortunately, the window couldn’t be opened because the handle had been removed. A notice on the window claimed there was "sufficient airflow," but this wasn’t my experience. The heating system wouldn’t go below 17°C, making the room uncomfortably warm and stuffy, with no fresh air circulating. This made for a restless night. The room itself was showing signs of wear and tear, likely due to its popularity. While the bed was adequate, I found it less comfortable than the updated ones at Travelodge. For me, the higher cost of this Premier Inn compared to Travelodge didn’t feel justified. Although the hotel does offer a bar and food options, the overall experience didn’t meet my expectations. I’ve given this stay 3 stars, primarily due to the room temperature and the inability to open a window for fresh air. I’ll remain open-minded and try another Premier Inn in the future, but this experience fell short of what I anticipated. ---

Well what can I say. The one good thing was the bed. Very comfortable. Sadly that was it. Scruffy exterior and interior. Overwhelming smell of stale and fresh cigarette smoke. Woman on reception had just been outside having a smoke when we arrived and it stank. Sign up saying restaurant shut. Got the impression straight away that the woman on reception couldn't care a less. Went upstairs to put suitcase in room. Popped downstairs to get 2 drinks. Staff member walked past me and said they couldn't operate the till on the bar. Stood waiting for over 10 mins when a wedding party arrived to check in and pressed the bell (which I hadn't noticed) Woman who checked us in came to the desk and proceeded to check in the next 3 lots of guests. I asked politely if I could pay for the drinks as I had been waiting sometime. She said well you will have to wait longer. A wedding party guest explained I'd already being there before they arrived. She said if i didn't like it I could go somewhere else. Wow! What fantastic customer service skills. I then Said I will pop down and pay for them later. She said really loudly as I walked off "how rude was that! I then said under my breath screw you. As the only person at that time who was rude was her. She shouted back and you. No I shouldn't have said it as two wrongs dont make a right but her attitude like herself absolutely stank! Went down to pay for the 2 cokes later and thankfully got a different member of staff. £7.05 ridiculous During the night the aircon went on the blink didn't feel there was anyone we wanted to come into our room in the middle of the night so had to leave the electric card out of socket as the aircon wouldn't switch off and kept making a dreadful noise. Would not recommend this particular premier inn to anyone.

This is a very friendly and professional hotel. The staff is its best asset although we could not fault the rest of the amenities. The breakfast was very good with a wide selection and all fresh. The only aspect that could be improved upon is more staff, they are worked very hard.
