Le Grand Hôtel le Touquet-Paris-Plage

DONT STAY!, mould in rooms, stains everywhere, air conditioning not working, ceiling coming down over bed, got food poisoning, staff picking at food- hair on plates. Got home to find unauthorised charges to my credit card. Staff very rude unhelpful- now recovering monies via my bank. Please beware!!

If you are looking for a run down room with the smell of the sewer emanating for the bathroom then this is the place for you. If you then want to go to reception to receive an abject response from a totally disinterested staff member who summons a "maintenance" man to come to your room armed with a bottle of some chemical, then this is again what you are looking for. To make your experience even more enjoyable, this chemical introduces another spectrum of foul aromas to the extent that it will make your spouse have a migraine and billious. When you then go down to speak to your mono-syllabic friend on reception who by now is even more disinterested but who comes up with the marvellous suggestion of giving you another room [not an upgrade, which you can doubt is even available within this substandard yet costly feeble excuse for a grand hotel], then again another great reason for wasting your hard earned money on a room like Room 416 that is in that part of establishment that the sign in the corridor that says the hotel is undergoing modernisation. We left to seek a habitable room in a "proper" hotel. Go on a weekend as we did on the 13/14 July, and you will be told that there is no manager on duty at the weekend although you will receive an email from their chef de reception 6days later refusing refund but telling you "that the wellness of our customers is our priority" - Mon Dieu!

Very very disappointing. From start of stay to end. No help with luggage. Wrong room key so we walked into a couple in their room. Room shabby waited 45 minutes for our meal Absolutely no apology when we complained. We came from the Westminster hotel to stay one night for a change. No comparison. Johanna wilson

Very over priced for a tired and cheaply decorated hotel definitely not Grand. This said the bed was comfortable, there was ample parking and it was a good location to walk into le Touquet. Overall next time an air b and b would have been better and cheaper!

My partner and I stayed at the hotel for our annual Easter break from 28th March - 1st April 2024. The hotel has adequate parking and is a short, pleasant walk to the town and beach and we had no need for Ubers/public transport during our stay. On arrival first impressions were a little disappointing with the windows displaying greyish looking net curtains. A fountain which was drained and not in use throughout our stay as well as broken, tiles fallen on the steps up to the hotel which remained this way throughout our stay. However inside the hotel is a different story on the whole. Reception and guest areas are clean and fresh looking with very friendly and helpful staff. The room itself (321) was clean and tidy however there were areas where maintenance was required. The back of the bedroom door desperately needed painting, the mirror on the internal door looked like a cheap Ikea stick on, lighting in the room was inadequate with no ceiling lights - which is fine, however the lamps were insufficient to light the room well when dressing for dinner or my partner to apply makeup. Housekeeping failed to ever leave 2 bottles of water in our room choosing only to leave 1 and we had to ask at reception every evening for an additional bottle. The bar is great - good service, fantastic cocktails pafsionalty and meticulously made by the bartenders. We whiled away many hours here and enjoyed this area. Easter Sunday was a lovely, warm and sunny morning so we chose to have some wine and charcuterie et fromage on the terrace outside the bar. Sadly this area is slightly overlooked. The building is desperately in need of cleaning with black mould covering the walls. The spiral staircase is used by staff as a smoking area (proven by the bartender smoking there during our lunch) with cigarette butts dropped on the ground and felt much more a staff area/outside smokers area rather than a welcoming area to enjoy the sun and a drink for guests. The charcuterie et fromage itself was great, especially the charcuterie however given we were in France the forage was disappointing with a cheap brie (we buy better from Waitrose) a cheddar and shockingly a processed cheese with herbs and a green rind which I would avoid at all costs in a supermarket and didn't expect to find it on a board in France. Disappointing given the cheese trolly in the brasserie looks amazing and I was disappointed I didn't get round to sampling it. We tried the brasserie on our first evening and had a lovely experience. Great set menus at a great price point and the food didn't disappoint. Good service from staff and a great wine list. Also lovely to see staff using flambe trolleys too - a forgotten skill! We used the pool one afternoon and found it slightly disappointing. The spa jets are in need of maintenance with a few broken, step ladders into the pool are loose and we found the pool itself slightly cold and couldn't stay in it for long. What a fabulous hotel and venue. Booked this as the last hotel on a trip with my daughter. Upon arrival room was ready early. Booked a duplex and the level of decor was as expected. Nice birthday wish and complimentary gift. Robes and slippers to use around the complex for the health suit and pool. Booked last minute meal and the food quality was off the chart. All the staff were friendly and spoke good English. 10 minute walk to the town centre and sufficient parking. All in all 10/10 venue.
