In the hotel and hospitality business, the difference between average and excellent is often found in the details. On checking in to any hotel/motel whether on personal or business travel, we always check several things before settling in (e.g., does the room smell musty, does the TV work, does the toilet and shower/tub drain, etc. On checking in to the property, we found the room was fairly clean but the toilet did not flush nor was there any TV remote control. We visited with them at the front desk then waited for "house keeping" to show up with a plunger. Pay attention to details. Even to the point where it would have been quicker to give us a different room. Best thing about our stay in Leroy, Illinois? the nearby cafe - "Jacks".... good food and most pleasant server.
