We recently stayed at this hotel with our daughter, who when we checked in found the shower over the bath in her room was broken. She requested a room with a standalone shower but was told none were available. Most basic rooms have only these showers, which is inconvenient. After four maintenance visits—one where she was told it was “normal” for the shower head to face horizontally and another for the bathroom to flood when the shower was being used—the supposedly fixed shower fell on her head as soon as she tried to use it. Only then was she offered a room with a standalone shower, which had magically become available. In our room, the shower and basin had drainage issues, also deemed “normal.” Breakfast on our first day was also disappointing; arriving at 9:30am, an hour before it ended, there was limited food and no croissants. It then took three attempts and 20 minutes for the staff to make a simple café au lait. Overall, our stay was marred by poor service and lack of care, not what we expect from a five-star Relais & Chateaux hotel.
