Mahogany Hotel Residence & Spa

We were at the Mahogany Residence and Spa hotel which is part of the La Créole hotel...It is the same place and there is no difference or advantage to being in one or the other locations . We had a room equipped with a kitchenette on the balcony. Clean and sober room but really lacking in storage. The bed is comfortable. Our balcony had a view of the interior courtyard, not very chic, but we were quiet. Good points ; The Hotel is very well located near the village of Le Gosier where access to the whole of Grande Terre and Basse Terre is easy, however you absolutely need to rent a car to have an easy time seeing the main attractions of the area. island. The roads are beautiful and it is quite easy to navigate. There are a few restaurants. around the hotel and several car rental companies. The beach is pretty but not the most beautiful on the island. Locals have unlimited access to the beach and sometimes it becomes more difficult to frequent. In the evening there are a few shows but the drinks at the bar are expensive (from $12 to $20 CAN.) for one drink. Negative points We were the victim of a major water cut for 4 days where we had to "Flush" the toilet with water boilers. No hot water for the shower. The Hotel offered no compensation to customers...not even a drink at the bar or a lunch at the restaurant because we had nothing included....Disappointing. Other negative points are the lack of security on the site with young people from the area who come to smoke their pot, listen to music and be noisy by taking the beach chairs reserved for customers and being directly on the installation of the hotel.

I would say that it is a decent establishment without any wows with a beautiful beach which may be small but which is still very pretty. For the spa, you have to reserve no free access, even hamam... what really shocked me was the number of cats in the restaurant! Disgusting 🤮 it’s everywhere… the rooms are spacious with kitchen on the terrace, it’s cool 👍

Very nice week at Mahogany. I found that there were few "reviews" for this hotel. I think that many write their comments under "La Créole Beach Hotel and spa" Plan between 30 and 40 Euro for the transfer from the airport to the hotel, about 20 minutes. Tell the taxi: direction hotel La Créole because Mahogany they do not know this name. The check-in goes well, but the room was not ready (3 p.m.), they give us a coupon for a glass of planter (free) to enjoy on the beach! (Still nice). We returned to the reception and the room was ready and the suitcases were returned to our room! We were in the same hotel as La créole, there was a wing for Mahogany! The reception employees have always been nice! Thank you! We had taken a sea view room. (See photo). The kitchenette on the balcony: wonderful. We had breakfast there every morning and in the afternoon wine and cheese before dinner! There are several small restaurants nearby: across the street or a little after the ****** and the Ti Maki The dinner buffet at the hotel 40 Euro per person. The pool: very beautiful, always clean, in the evening beautiful blue lighting. The beach: do not expect a long beach in order to take long walks, if you wish there are several other beautiful beaches. You can take a small shuttle (small orange electric bus that stops in front of the ****** for 1.5 euro). There is also a large orange bus - I do not know where it goes, nor the price) There are two small markets: one almost in front of the hotel and the other near the restaurant Ti Maki - as well as a pastry shop. Very safe to walk day and evening - sidewalk. (in the evening watch out for cars - there are several that go to the restaurants) Bring mosquito cream or spray. In the evening on our balcony, we were bitten by tiny flies. Strange thing: in the bathroom-shower, the shower is not closed, so when showering, there is water everywhere! Fortunately, we were left several towels to mop up the water on the floor. In the evening, the noise of frogs is quite loud, but you get used to it. Lots of roosters, chickens, cats, dogs and birds. On Wednesday mornings, go to the free rum tasting (Serge), it is worth it. In the evening: there was the piano man around 6 p.m. and around 8:30 p.m. music at the Rhumerie bar and one evening Creole dancing on the beach. Car rental: Hertz on the other side of the street, it was all rented, go towards the ******, there is Eurocar, we rented a car for a day, it is worth visiting the surroundings. We did a boat tour (kiosk near the beach) 95 Euro p.p. for the day 9am - 4pm dinner-rum included. What is good in Guadeloupe: there are no vendors like in Mexico… I recommend this hotel. Everything was magnificent!

The hotel is very well located, the restaurant perfect in every way, but the reception staff and the hotel manager have a rare smile and a non-existent commercial gesture. We spent a week for a professional conference in this very pleasant place. On the third day of our stay, two couples of us had an unwanted visitor in our rooms, during our time in the shower or just for a photo of the ***** eclipse, about a quarter of an hour. Two bank cards and €200 for a couple, and a pair of gold and diamond earrings in another room were stolen. We reported the thefts to reception after checking that we hadn't just misplaced these items. We were not taken seriously at all, neither by the employees nor later by the hotel manager. We did not incriminate anyone, our rooms on the ground floor and on the first floor were easily accessible from the terrace and balcony. We were obviously inconvenient and were asked to file a complaint without any compassion. Fortunately the police were more attentive and recorded our complaints. When we returned from the police station, the director told us that the room doors at the time we received these fraudulent visits had only been opened by our own magnetic cards. In short, we stole from ourselves just to poison the existence of this very nice gentleman and to waste three hours at the police station! Of course no taxi was offered to us, we managed like adults! The couple whose payment cards were stolen were debited in businesses not far from the hotel just after the theft. When the director received us, or rather met us in a busy place, he told us that he had looked for the first business on the internet and that he had not found a store with that name. Here again we probably invented this story… The bank has proof! No attention afterwards, no word of apology for the disappearance of a piece of jewelry given at the birth of my son. If we refocus on the hotel, the staff parades through your rooms all day, one to make the bed, one to make the towels, another to check if it has been done and so on. . This little world enters your home, because yes we are at home since we have rented the room, without knocking, and since you do not have a label on the door to ask not to disturb, if you grant yourself a nap or a shower, even with the door blocked by a chair, this staff enters, at the risk of finding you in an embarrassing outfit... you have to shout to stop these intrusions into your room... The elevators were broken for five days out of seven We left this site without regrets, we were victims but for the management and the reception we were above all a beautiful star.
