Winzig Lodge

It is essentially a motel room on the 3rd floor. Very bright room with a nice view down the valley. All very clean and simple, nice decor but basic. The check in was terrible- just what you fear from air BNB style accommodation- no one at property, no message with room # and codes, no response to multiple emails. Visiting from Australia, we don’t have cell service, just internet so could email fom ******* ap but not call. We ended up having to reconnect our Australian phone (only 1 of our networks has coverage in Lava), pay the daily fee and call manager. He answered on 2nd call and apologized profusely for having forgotten to send our welcome message and codes that morning. We won’t be booking this type of an accommodation again on *******, managers on the other aps we use tend to be super responsive to messages which avoids the waiting around and worrying you were going to have to find a hotel and lose the $250 you’d paid.

I basically have two criteria for any stay-cleanliness and comfortable beds. This place delivers all that and more! It was scrupulously clean and had one of the best beds I’ve ever slept in, but it also had a lot of other great things about it. The room was equipped with real dishes and a Keurig coffee maker with plenty of different coffee and tea and cocoa so I didn’t have to limit myself to one cup of coffee each morning. It’s decorated super cute and was filled with sunlight during the day, which made it cheerful and bright. I liked the added touch of supplying ear plugs and a sleep mask, I didn’t need either of them but it was thoughtful. Bathroom and shower were great! I have no complaints, but a couple of observations. One, the stairs up to the room are quite steep, so if you have any sort of mobility issues you might choose a room on the bottom floor, and because the room is on the top floor it takes a hot minute for the hot water to get up there-don’t be put off that, just let the water run for a few minutes and you’ll have all the hot water you could ask for! The lodge is within walking distance of everything in Lava, there are lots of clean towels and even makeup removing towels so you don’t have to use one of the white washcloths. Definitely a 10/10 stay!

The unit was very clean and comfortable. The only downside was that it was advertised as having a fully equipped kitchenette, however it only had a microwave and a very old one burner plug in hot plate. We were very surprised to learn that it didn’t have a toaster. We were planning on cooking our breakfast in the unit but had to make alternative plans.

I was very well taken care of by Winzig Lodge. They offer exceptional customer service. Many thanks to Steven Hooper at Winzig Lodge! The location is excellent, and while it is a bit cold to walk down to the hot pools from this location, a nice heavy robe does just fine :)

Everything was exceptional, it was a quiet nestled in, cozy room, with well thought out design with everything thing you could ask for in your stay. I would highly recommend.
