This little quintessential pub is like being at home. Here you meet the locals who are happy to share their experiences living in this area. Close to St Cyrus and easy to access. Meals are prepared and cooked fresh. Very clean and tastefully decorated yet still holding its charm with pull cord lights. Good easy parking off street .

Avoid at all costs shocking damp smell in bar Called to book a table for lunch was not told it was carvery only and no normal menu. Well the carvery was shocking portions were like for a child and meat was tasteless and charged us £34 for what. When asked if everything was ok I said no as was not told it was carvery only host said oh well that’s what it is. We will definitely not be back and recommend people find somewhere else to eat. Very old and run down.

Outstanding in every way. Food magnificent. Alcohol very reasonably priced . The sort of place where you can relax and enjoy yourself. The owner and staff are so nice and extremely efficient. Go on give it a go, it really is superb. Will be back. Thank you

Steve and his wife made me feel welcome . The hotel has a very homely feel and my room was very clean and comfortable. Wonderful breakfast also, and quiet surroundings. Would highly recommend and would not have any hesitation on returning. This hotel would suit many tastes.

We came to visit family who live nearby. We had our own vehicle and parking was great. We found it easy to commute to Laurencekirk. Very friendly and helpful even as there was a power cut on our first evening due to storms. Definitely be back on next family visit.

Booked for evening meal. The fillet steak and the mixed grill were superb and real value for money. Very friendly staff and feels like a real pub. Lovely atmosphere. Will be back when our travels bring us this way.

Visited for first time in many years for Sunday carvery. First class, food was piping hot, really friendly staff. Recommend you book in advance as quite busy. Drinks very reasonably priced. Will definitely be back.

Stayed for one night whilst away for work. Very warm welcome on arrival and decided to sit at the bar and enjoy a couple of pints . Ordered dinner, an excellent steak pie, fresh veg and lovely chips, a very generous portion. Had to leave early morning so didn’t manage to sample breakfast , but I’m sure that would have been excellent as well. There is a lovely feel back here now, I’ve used it for over 20 years, and I’m sure the new owners will enjoy the success they deserve. Highly recommend
